Of Onslow Co., N.C.


In the name of God, Amen the fourteenth Day of September 1751, I Henry RHODES of New River in Onslow County North Carolina being very sick and weak ------------------------------------unto the mortality of my body and knowing htat it is appointed for by all --- once -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------to the resolution of my Executors ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------and dispose of the same in the following manner and for ----------------------
Imprimis, I Give to my Loving wife Mary RHODES two bowls and pots and one frying pan.
Item: I give unto my son Henry RHODES my ---------------more I now live and likewise the mill and all --- the tenaments--------- only my son Thomas RHODES and my son in law Daniel MASHBORN-------------------------------------------wish is my desire that the plantation joyning my manor plantation where William ----- now lives for? sold the equally -------------------my son Thomas my son Henry RHODES and my Grandaughter Elizabeth MASHBORN, furthermore it is my Desire that my negro LUCAS, work on my manor plantation two years and then be the property of my son Thomas RHODES and Likewise my Negro Wench KATE to continue with my wife furgoing ---- and of --------a negroes, Henry RHODES furthermore it is my desire that my son Thomas RHODES have one ------- case of Bottles and after my wife's decease it is my Desire that my son in law Daniel MASHBORN have one --- Bed and furthermore it is my will and desire that my son Henry RHODES --- have two feather beds and the furniture and one case of fif------ Bottles with all the chests table & timber ---- are ---------------one copper ware with all ---------------, leather saddles and ------------- and cattle horses -----------------------------now possesed with and one still and what belongs to and all my negroes and hoop, and my wife having use of the wool further more ----------- my well beloved wife Mary RHODES and my son Henry RHODES to be Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, Revoking all others heretofore by me made and then to be only my Last Will and Testament in Wittness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal the Day and Year above written:

WILL OF HENRY RHODES
OF DOBBS COUNTY, N.C.



In the name of God, Amen I, Henry RHODES of Dobbs County, farmer being Sick of Body but of perfect mind and memory and knowing the mortality of my Body and that it is appointed for all men once to Die Do make and declare This to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and following that is to say principally and first of all, I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, hopeing and believeing a Remission of my sins by the merited and meditation? of Jesus Christ my Saviour and my Bod I commit to the earth to be buried in a Christian Like burial all the Discretion of my Exr. hereafter named and my worldly Estate I give and Bequeath as followeth:
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Jacob RHODS two cows
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary RINCEY one shilling-her land?
Item: I give and bequeath to my son having know the half of the money hired? my negro man --IP --- at Pollocksville and the other half I give and bequeath to my son William RHODS part? of the said fellow?to be sold after my death and the money to the Henry and William RHODES
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth RHODS the negro girl named ROSE
Item: I give and bequeath my son James RHODS the land and plantation I lived on and all the land belogning to the same and Moses COX Bond
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Barbary RHODS one negro girl named CATE
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Rachel RHODS one negro Boy named DICK
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah RHODS one negro Boy named GORGE
carried over-
Item: I give and bequeath to my Loving wife Elizabeth RHODS my Bed and Furniture & also lend one negro wench? during her Lifetime and after my wife's death & give and bequeath the same wench to my son William RHODS so she and her --- ---- for ever from now and henceforid? over all the Rest of my Estate that is not given I leave to be sold and Equally Divided between my son Willam and my son Henry and my son James RHODSES and my daughters Elizabeth and Barbary and RHODS and Sarah RHODS and my Loving wife thence and nomore.
And Rachel RHODS my daughter. Lastly I appoint my friends Beeaman RHODS and William JONES and --- ---- my Executors & --- my Last Will and Testament to be and --- perform the same aforegoing to the true intent Given under my hand and seal this 21st day of December 1773.

The within Last Will and Testament of Henry RHODES was proved before met his 5th day of Janry. 1774 by the Oath of Moses COX one of the Subscribing Witnesses thereto who swore that he was present or did see the Testator sign seal publish and declare the same to be and contain his Last Will and Testament and tat at the time thereof he was of sound and disposing mind memory and Benjamin RHODES and Joseph DEW two of the Executors therein named having taken the Oaths of Executors and qualified agreeable to law. It is ordered that the LEtters of Testimony issue thereon accordingly.

Will of Woodhouse Rhodes

In the name of God, amen, I Woodhouse Rhodes of the County of Onslow & State of No. Carolina being in bad health, but of Sound mind and memory thanks be to almighty God for the same; - and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and Ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following
(First of all I resign my Soul to almighty God who gave it), - and my Body to the earth from whence it came, to be buried in a decent christian like manner: - and as for what Worldly goods I am blessed with in this life I dispose of as follows to (wit).
Item. It is my will that first of all that my Just debts and funeral expenses be paid Out of my estate.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth Rhodes One negro woman by the name of ?O---s, One Cow and Calf, One Sow & pigs, one Bed and furniture, One chest, One table, One sofa, all my wooden ware, all my crockery ware, and pewter ware, Six Sitting chairs, one pair of scales and weight, One large Hogshead, Ten empty Barrels, One meal Stand, two Jugs, One large Butter Pot, two Wooden Wheels, One Linnen wheel, One Loom and gear and all my Pot ware to her and her heirs forever.
Item. I give Unto my daughter Exilina Harget Five Shillings She already having received her portion of my estate.
Item. I also give unto my Daughter Mary F. Humphrey Five shillings she also having received her portion of my estate.
Item. I give Unto my Son Asa Rhodes Five Shillings he also having received his portion of my estate.
Item. I give unto Christopher and Henry Rhodes heirs of my Son Leml Rhodes Five Shillings their father having received his portion of my estate.
Item. I give unto my Son Henry Rhodes my large Bible, and Dictionary, and One large Silver spoon to him and his heirs forever.
Item. I give Unto my Son Durant H. Rhodes One large Silver spoon, one pair small Steelyards and One large Geography to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give unto my Daughter Narcisey H. Rhodes (scratched out -written above is Howard) Ten Shillings and to heirs (marked out) her heirs one negro girl Zilph and her increase to (left out "be") equally divided among them. --]
Item. I give and bequeath Unto the heirs of my Daughter Narcisey H. Howard One negro girl Zilph to be equally Divided among them.
Item. I give Unto my Son Anthony Rhodes One Pot Rack to him and his heirs forever. -
Item. I give and bequeath Unto my Son Edmund Rhodes, One Desk, One looking glass, One Bofat, One pair of and Irons and One large pair Steelyards, One Shot Gun, One Chissel and Broad axe, and One steer, three Silver tea spoons to him and his heirs forever. -
Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Margaret Rhodes, One Bed & Furniture two Cows and Calves to her and her heirs forever. -
Item. I appoint my Son Durant H. Rhodes Executor to this last will and Testament: -
assigned Sealed and delivered in presence of Us on 3rd day May A.D.1827.

This Will of Woodhouse Rhodes was duly proved in open Court by the oath of John A. Averett and Durant Rhodes the Executor therein named approved in open Court and was qualified agreeably to law.
