KP Cemetery - Peck Section P-7 LEE THOMAS HANBY Tombstone reads: Lee Hanby Oct. 15, 1879 May 30, 1905 Lee Thomas Hanby was the second child of Peter Sharp Hanby and Elizabeth Josephine Peck Hanby. He was born in Texas in Dallas County; their final eight children were born in Rockwall County near Heath. He never married. The cause of his death was described by his sister, Nora McChesney Hanby, thusly: "Lee Thomas Hanby was hurt inwardly while playing a double header baseball game, which took him away in just a few days (about three days I think). He was very bright in all of his school work and seemed to have a very special knack of making -friends... He was 5 feet 4 inches tall."
In Bonnie Ruth Hanby Raphael's memories of the family, she wrote: "My Mother said he [Lee Thomas] was exceptionally nice and courteous - very neat and always well-groomed and well-dressed. He worked in Pecks Dry Goods Store in Heath, Rockwall County, Texas. That is where my mother knew him... Lee Hanby was a talented baseball player. During a game, he had an attack of acute appendicitis. The appendix ruptured and caused his death..."
