Kyser-Peck Cemetery Peck Section 11 BONNIE ELIZABETH BOYDTombstone reads: Bonnie L. Boyd 1906-1980
BONNIE ELIZABETH BOYD was born in Rockwall County, Texas, on September 18, 1906. She was the first child of Augusta Leigh Hanby Boyd (b. 06-24-1883; d. 07-10-1962) and Frank Boyd (b. 03-01-1881; d. 10-25-1917). Bonnie was severely injured in the aforementioned car wreck which killed her father and aunt, Jean Kathleen Hanby. The description of her injuries which was given to me by my parents was that the trees crashing into the car roof drove many splinters into her brain. These splinters could not all be removed and she was left with a very noticeable limp and injuries which stopped her mental development at eleven years of age. [This is not a scientific explanation, but it is the explanation I was given as a child.] In the will of Elizabeth Josephine Peck Hanby, Bonnie was the only grandchild to whom she left a specific bequest. A statement in her will, dated September 3rd, 1923, reads, "The $500.00 is for Bonnie. I remember Bonnie, because she is lame and is my only namesake." Bonnie never married and lived in the family home until her death on May 4, 1980.
