JOSEPH VAWTER PECK

JOSEPH VAWTER PECK was the second child of

Joseph Addison Peck and Ellenora Baker Peck. He

was born on December 24, 1856, in Giles County,

Virginia, on the "Springfield" plantation. He married

LAURA FRANKLIN on March 14, 1888. Joseph

and Laura were the parents of four children; three

of them are buried in the Peck section of the Kyser­Peck

Cemetery. Joseph died on November 8. 1929,

 

A partial copy of the obituary for Joseph Vawter Peck

 reads: "Mr. Joe V. Peck is Dead. Joe V. Peck died at

the family home, five miles south of Rockwall...

after an illness of about two years. Funeral services

were held at the Peck Cemetery... The pallbearers

were Homer Wallace, B. F. Jones, Earlie Darr,

Bunk McDougal, John Bedingfield, and J. D. Latham. 

Mr. Peck was born in Giles County, Virginia,

 December 24, 1856 and came with his parents

J. A. and Ellen Peck to Texas, settling in Dallas

County, near New Hope on February 1, 1877, later

moving to Rockwell County and settling in the

neighborhood where he died. He came to this county

on December 26, 1881. He married Miss Laura Franklin

of Collin County on March 14, 1888, to this union four children were born, one child, Leigh Peck and the wife surviving. The daughter is teaching school at Caldwell. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: H.A., W.B., and R.E.L. Peck of Rockwell, Mrs. L.P.Hanby and Mrs, J. W. Hanby. Deceased children are infant son: Jan. 10, 1889-January 30, 1889; Lloyd Peck: Oct. 19, 1894 - August 6, 1902; and Jean Peck: February 19, 1890-December 3. 1906."
