SUSAN ALABAMA PENRY(Called “Alabama”) b. September 25, 1853 d. February 28, 1885 Daughter of Milton C. PENRYand Sarah E. CADE m. James Knox Polk KYSER (Called “JKP”) October 13, 1870
Susan Alabama PENRY was born in Noxubee County, Mississippi. The family later moved to Winston County, Mississippi, and about 1863 they relocated to Poetry, Texas, in Kaufman County. She married JKP KYSER in 1870. They lived in a house built especially for her on the Kyser land that was part of a land grant issued James A. KYSER, located in what is now FM 740 near Chandler’s Landing on the banks of Lake Ray Hubbard.
Children of JKP and Alabama PENRY KYSER were: Eddie b. July 9, 1871; Ernest b. December 20, 1874; Frances Adelia, called “Fannie”, b. August 6, 1876; Olin Wilbur, b. December 25, 1878; Lucinda, called “Lucy” b. October 10, 1881; Wylie b. 1883; and Benjamin b. February 28, 1885.
Alabama PENRY KYSER died February 28, 1885, at the birth of her 7th child. She was laid to rest in the Kyser Family Cemetery on the Kyser estate.
Alabama’s father, Milton C. PENRY, was born 1818 in S.C. to Jonathan PENRY and Cynthia BOYDSTON. The family moved to Alabama for a short period of time, then to Noxubee County, Mississippi. Milton C. PENRY was first married on March 3, 1842 to Mary Ann HAYNES, daughter of James P. HAYNES. They had 3 children: Cynthia Elizabeth b. December 6, 184; Sarah C. b. 1846; and Augustus Milton, a son. Mary Ann HAYNES PENRY died when Augustus was an infant.
Milton C. PENRY married the second time Sarah E. CADE of Neshoba County, Mississippi. Sarah’s brother, Robert D. CADE (b. 1828 Ala) was married to Martha Jane HAYNES, sister to Milton PENRY’S first wife, Mary Ann HAYNES. Milton and Sarah CADE PENRY had children as follows: Anna Elizabeth b. March 6, 1850; Susan Alabama b. September 25, 1853, James C., b. ca 1858; Laura C., b. ca 1861, Lou J., all born in Mississippi. Born in Texas were Charles Scott, and Carrie, b. November 12, 1871.
Alabama’s mother, Sarah E. CADE, was born in Alabama in 1832 to James M. CADE, born 2806 in Georgia, and Sarah Ann FARISH. They married March 17, 1827. James and Sarah Ann CADE first lived in Sumter County, Alabama, later moving to Neshoba County, Mississippi. James M. CADE was the son of Drury “Bud” CADE II b. 1778 in Georgia, and Sarah EASLEY, the daughter of Daniel EASLEY. Sarah’s sister, Priscilla Easley, married William Cade, brother to Drury “Bud” CADE II. Drury “Bud” Cade II died in 1828 in Green County, Alabama. His parents were Drury “Bud” CADE 1st b. October 15, 1743 in Virginia, and Winifred BOYKIN. Drury 1st died December 27, 1796, in Georgia. Drury 1st was a Captain in the Revolutionary War and is listed in the DAR Patriot Index.
