Gloria Lynn Lucas
Gloria Lynn Lucas passed away at her home on May 16, 2005.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Michael Lucas; son, Randall Mielke; mother, Phillis Jones of Eureka; brothers, Vern Jones of Nevada, David Jones of Eureka, Michael Jones of Eureka, Philip Jones of Eureka; sisters, Lorraine Harrison of Eureka and Melissa Petranek of Eureka.
Gloria was born on December 5, 1972, in Eureka, CA. She has been and will be loved and remembered by all her family and friends. Gloria was wed to Michael Gene Lucas on August 31, 2003, in Eureka; this was Gloria's first and only marriage. She was proud of her family, husband, and son, Randall William Mielke, age 13, and she was fiercely loyal to them. She endured little disrespect to family or friends, and those who crossed this line met with great correction. She was devoted to her mother, brothers, sisters, and loved being auntie to Scyler, 7, and Alexander, age 1. Most special to her was her son, Randall. She unceasingly devoted her heart, her hands, wisdom, and love to Randall. Each night when she kissed him and said, "I love you forever", Randall knew this.
Gloria knew Christ and was baptized into the Catholic Church. A favorite verse of hers was from the Bible, "Now abides Faith, Hope, and Love, these three, but the greatest of these is Love."
Gloria served the community of Humboldt as a Dial a Ride driver for the elderly and disabled until 2002. She is remembered specifically for her support of those who faced challenges beyond their abilities, and she worked to bring some equity to their lives by giving the mobility.
Her greatest joy was being outdoors with her husband, son, and family; no shoes, lying in the sun, frolicking in the water, and laughing. She loved reading, NASCAR driving, horses, and drawing. She loved being a mother and an aunt. Her support and belief in those closest to her was unflinching. She gave with her whole heart and asked nothing in return. She loved first and last. This love was unwavering and overflowing between Michael and Gloria.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Pierce Mortuary Chapel on Friday May 20, 2005, at 10:00 AM.
Mass in Memory of Gloria Lynn Lucas will be held on May 29, 2005, at 7:00 PM at St. Bernard's Church.
