Family legend has it that David Martin fell in love with his cousin Jane Somerville. The family, disapproving of the match, sent Jane to Worthington, PA. When David discovered her wherabouts, he left Ireland and made his way to Pennsylvania to marry her. His parents, two older brothers, and his sister Prudence followed him there some years later. ¹⁷
