General:
Charles Cooley says Ben Petrie was a son of Alexander Petrie and Elizabeth Crick. In the 1900 census Elizabeth reported that she was the mother of 5 children 5 of which were living. Charles Cooley didn't have a birth date for Ben and he does not appear on the 1900 census. Was he born after 1900? Or could Ben be a middle name and not reported as Ben on the census. There was a Samuel B. Crick listed as one of their children. In 1920 he was listed as Samuel D. Crick, possibly he is Samuel Benjamin? I found Benjamin on the 1910 census. He was the same age as the child whose name appeared to be Birt on the 1900 census.
