ISAC ELZA CAMPBELL (Obituary)
After a short illness, Isac Elza Campbell passed away at his home in Clark, South Dakota, at 5:00 P.M., Saturday afternoon, May 5, 1834, at age 77 years, one month , and 22 days. While Mr. Campbell's death was unexpected, it came as a distinct shock to his relatives and friends. Isac Elza Campbell, son of William B., and Emaline C. Campbell. He was born on the old homestead south of Sully, in Jasper County, on March 13, 1857. There, he grew to young manhood and was united in marriage to Mary Emma Morse on February 22, 1879.
This union was blessed with five children, including Clara who died in infancy. The wife and four other children survive. They are: Mrs. Esther Drake, Klemmee, Iowa; Leslie Earl, Venice, California; John Bruce, Gilman, Iowa; and Floyd, of Sioux City, Iowa. Besides his immediate family, Mr. Campbell is survived by five sisters: Mrs. L.A. Pender, Alvia, Oklahoma; Mrs. Rilla Patterson, Gilman, Iowa; Miss Eva Campbell, Sully, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Butrum, Oakley, Iowa; and Mrs. Libbie Montgomery, Oskaloosa, Iowa. Also 14 grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive him. His father, mother, one brother, and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Campbell was a true fatherly man. His upper most thoughts were for his family and friends, always keeping self in the background. There was no sacrifice so great that he would not make for his loved ones, and his neighbors never had a better or more thoughtful neighbor or friend.
His good deeds and kind ministration will ever live in the memories of those who were blessed by them. 6
