General:
Fort Bragg Advocate, June 5, 1901 Mrs. Emma Sanborn, the wife of Dr. F. H. Sanborn, died May 29, 1901 by drinking carbolic acid in a fit of despondency. She was 26 years old. Her funeral was conducted at Westport May 30, 1901 by Rev. R. T. Gray at the Baptist church. Her husband and daughter, Gertrude, survived her. The family formerlylived in Usal. [Her death was the subject of a long editorial in the paper about the circumstances that drove her to suicide.] 11
