The third child of Joseph (Sinking Creek Joe) and Margaret Bell was b.
abt 1776 in VA. He was once a member of the Virginia Legislature. He married 22 Sept
1807 to Deborah Rader (Gr Co. p. 42). He was sheriff of Greenbrier County at various
times. They had moved from Cherry Tree Bottom in 1814 and settled on McMillions Creek,
WV. They had 7 children. He died after 1848 probably in Nicholas Co., WV. (AFN:KLMN-HF)

The first child of John and Deborah Rader was b. abt 1809. She married
22 Nov 1827 to John McCue. He was b. 9 Jan 1794 near Williamsburg, WV. They lived on a
farm near Summersville, WV. They had 13 children. (JG)

The second child of John and Deborah Rader was b. 1810 in Nicholas Co.,
WV. She married 8 Nov 1831 to William Groves, son of John and Jane (McClung) Groves. They
had ten children: Ruth b. 1832; Washington b. 1834 md Elizabeth J. Campbell; Franklin b.
1836 md Sarah J. Chapman; Elizabeth b. 1838 md John F. Dorsey; Jackson, b. 1839; Jefferson
T. b. 1841; Harvey b. 1846 md Ruth Cottle; John b. 1850 md Francis Moore; Virginia b. 1853
md John Bryant. (We have available about 40 pages of the Groves descendants of Margaret to
the eleventh generation. This was compiled by Joseph Groves, member. A copy may be

3-5 FIELDING McCLUNG

The third child of John and Deborah Rader was b. 1817. He was a member
of the Virginia Legislature before the Civil War. He was a presiding justice in Nicholas
Co., in 1880. He md 1) 3 Feb 1838 Ann Standard and they had three children. Fielding had
a daughter, Harriet b. 1861 in Nicholas Co. (N.Co.B, p. 37). He md 2) Sarah (Sallie)
Tyree before 1850 and they had six children. (This family is found in the 1850, 60, 80
censuse 1880. He died 1896 in KS and is buried in the Mt. Vernon Cem (5 miles west of Winfield).
Also in this cemetery are Sarah Tyree, Irwin, charles Ruffner and William's graves. (Forrest

The first child of Fielding and Ann Standard was b. 1833 (JG) She
married 22 Nov 1854 to Joseph Dick Hannah. (Note: she was not with the family in 1850c
and may have been in a school somewhere else.

#549) He accidentally shot and killed himself.
3-6 DICKINSON (RICHARD) McCLUNG

The third child of Fielding and Ann Standard was b. abt 1843. He
married to Elizabeth McCue McClung (b. 17 Dec 1840, dau of Dickson McClung) On the 1860
census of Nicholas County there is a Richard b. 1843 listed with the family. This may have
been an error in the reading or this could be a middle name that he went by. He is in the
1880 census with wife, Elizabeth and five children and a sister-in-law, Mary, age 22. They
later resided at Hazelton, KS. 6 children.

Flat Woods, WV Their children were: Homer (1872-1970), Alpheus (1873-1961), Edwin ( 1875-1968),

1853 in1860c N) She md 7 Jun 1881 to Robert Logan Winebrinner, of Ponca OK. They had two
children: Sallie Ellen (1883-1971) and Harry b. June 1885 (1900c Kay,OK).

1860c N) in Nicholas County. He md Annie Cassandra Hereford 9 Jan 1878 in Nicholas Co. (N Co Mg
Bk1, p. Mc). She was born 1858. He died at Ponca, OK. Frank is buried in the Mount Vernon Cemetery West

He married Ida Mae Bowman 12 Feb 1890. They lived at Ponca, OK. He was killed by a train

He served in WWII in the Infantry. He was a 1st Lt.; veteran of the Korean conflict. He
was a graduate in organic chemistry. He resided and worked in Dayton, OH. Their children:

Christine Ann, md Todd Hixenbaugh; Andrew James McClung.

Herold; d. 1 Mar 1914). They resided at Muddlety, WV. One child: H. W. Herold, sheriff
of Nicholas Co. WV. Talitha died 11 Dec 1919. Their children were Lanty; Henry W.; George;
Charles; Fielding D who md Sarah Fielding and Nettie Hill; John Mc. md Margaret A. Cutlip.

She married Thomas Feamster Rodgers. They emigrated to Daviess Co., Missouri. She had a
child: Martha J. Rogers who md Amos H. McClure. Tybithia died 1893.

The fourth child of Joseph (Sinking Creek Joe) and Margaret Bell was
born abt 1774. Presly McClung was the step-son to Thomas Masterson and born before 1791.
She married Thomas Masterson 1 Dec 1791 in Greenbrier Co. (Gr Co. Mg, p.
41) Thomas was b. in MD. and moved to WV, settling on a farm known as the Hamilton Place
at Kesslers Cross Lanes, then to Horseshoe Creek. They both died at Mountain Cove,
Fayette County, WV in 1834. They were buried in Vanda-Westlake Cem. at New Haven. Their
children were: Elizabeth md Jacob Nebergall; Samuel A. md Elizabeth Vandal; William F.;
Joseph; Margaret B. md Charles Campbell. (from Wayne Vandal Masterson; greater record

in the 1810 listing of Greenbrier County as head of household. Nothing further is known
of him.

The fifth child of Joseph (Sinking Creek Joe) and Margaret Bell was
born abt 1776. She married 1 July 1794 to Anthony Callison (Gr Mg, p. 1). Anthony was a
son of James and Elizabeth Callison of TN. Their niece wrote the following episode:
"When Anthony Callison was courting aunt Abby, it was in the Indian times. Uncle Sam
and big Jim McCoy went out hunting but did not kill anything. They came back about dark.
Anthony Callison and another beau of one of the girls was there and went to the
spring-house with them. Their spring-house was at the 'Long Billy' spring. Sam and Jim
shot off their guns. They thought it was Indians. He forgot Abby. They left the girls,
ran up through the mountains where Dave Humes lived. They did not get back until the next
day about dark, with clothes nearly torn off them. their limbs were mighty scratched.
People courted barefoot in those days."
