"Jim" WOOD was a Jr. only because he was the GRANDSON of a James Harrison WOOD & Nancy WOOD. Jim Jr. WOOD was actually the son of Miles Manser WOOD & Tyrissa Emeline WOOD. Jim Sr. WOOD was Tyrissa's father (aka Jim's paternal grandfather). Tyrissa WOOD WOOD died sometime after giving birth to Jim Jr. WOOD (who was born September 23, 1871, died January 18, 1924). Jim WOOD had built the house that he & Livora McCLUNG WOOD had lived in. He had taken it upon himself to build her a fruit cellar all by himself. Jim caused himself serious injury in moving boulders to create the cellar. Livora said he never complained, but would just sit in the rocker. He died shortly thereafter.

Jim WOOD's father Miles Manser WOOD remarried. However, Jim & his FULL SIBLINGS were raised by other WOOD families. Jim & Henry WOOD were raised by their grandfather, James Harrison WOOD (March 1823-Died sometime after 1900) & Nancy WOOD WOOD. Hence, came the "Jr" part of his name.

The two WOOD boys (Henry & Jim) appeared in the 1880 Census TWICE. They were listed in the census' at their father's (Miles Manser WOOD) home as well as their grandfather's (James Harrison WOOD's) home. They were ACTUALLY living AT their grandfathers home.

Livora McCLUNG, of Mt. Lookout, Nicholas Co., WV met James Harrison WOOD in Ansted, Fayette Co., WV. "Jim WOOD" was already a young widower (where Jim's family was from). James Harrison Jr. WOOD's first wife was Lillie B. McCLUNG (b. 1876/1877). Jim married Lillie B. McCLUNG (the daughter of Rufus Pitzer McCLUNG & Elizabeth Ann McCLINTIC) on 9 Mar 1895 in Fayette Co., WV*. So far the death record, or a graveside has not been found for her.

Mrs. Sarah Anderson McClung, 70 years old, wife of Wooster N. McClung, of Hico, died at her home Saturday of pneumonia after a week's illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Bragg Monday and burial was at Crawley. She is survived by her husband; seven children, Rev. Hubert McClung, Holden McClung and Mrs. Elzie Campbell, all of Hico; Mrs. Homer Miller, of Richmond, Va., Herman McClung, of Zenith; Houston McClung, of Montgomery and Harold McClung, of Morgantown and Fayetteville.

Three children listed below. They also had: William Irvin, Harriet Isabelle, Sallie Anna, Hattie Alice, Theodore Roosevelt, Esther Elizabeth, Mary Catherine, Wallace Newman, and Essie Jane.

    The seventh child of William Wallace and Harriet Eagle McClung was b. 10 Apr 1864. She md 19 Dec 1883 to John Henry Hutchinson Hodge. She died 22 Oct 1866. They resided at Little Sewell Mountain, WV. They had a child: Rufus R. md Stella Anderson.

    The eighth child of William Wallace and Harriet Eagle McClung was b. 6 Apr 1866. He md 16 Sep 1891 to Alpha Alice Walkup (b. 12 Apr 1869). They resided at Crawley, WV. He died 16 Mar 1950 and is buried in the Old Amwell/Otter Creek Cem. near Meadow Bluff, WV. Harry McClung sends us pictures of the headstone at Old Amwell Cemetery. They had four children.

The second child of Emery Eagle and Luella McClung was born 5 Aug 1902 in Greenbrier Co., VA. She married Harry Simms.

The third child of Emery Eagle and Luella McClung was born 4 May 1904 in Greenbrier Co., WV.

The fourth child of Emery Eagle and Luella McClung was born in 1906 in Greenbrier Co., WV.

10-6 ARMINTA CATHERINE McCLUNG

    The tenth child of William Wallace and Harriet Eagle McClung was b. 3 Apr 1870. She resided at Hico, WV.

Arminta married Jefferson Bonaparte Slone/Sloan in late 1905 or early 1906. The 1910 census says they were married for 4 years. This being her first marriage. She was the mother of 2 children with one living. Eugene M. age 10 months. In 1912, Rufus Jackson Slone was born. A later census does not mention Eugene M. so we assume he died at an early age.
