The eleventh child of William and Abigail Dickinson McClung was b.
19 May 1792 at Meadow River, WV. He married 25 Jan 1816 to Rebecca Cavendish (Gr Mg,42).
She was b. 28 Mar 1790 to William Hunter Cavendish and Jane Murphy Cavendish (as per Keith
McClung - there is some controversy about this, so documentation is welcomed). It was
tradition that she was related to Lord Cavendish of England. They had six children.
Alexander was a farmer in Greenbrier County. He must have had a
large operation as he used slaves. He died 9 May 1862 in Greenbrier Co.. They are both
buried at Spruce Grove Methodist Church (JG).

1901 (JG=20 Dec).
Kathy McClung has record of a second son named Grigsby born 20 Feb
1815 and d. 10 Dec 1901 with the first one born 1804.

They lived at McClung, WV, near Rupert, WV and had fifteen children.
Charles md 2) 9 May 1900 to Mrs. Amanda Shawver (nee McClung).
Amanda was b. 7 July 1845 to Col. Allen McClung. They did not have children.
When Charles began life the only thing he possessed was a
half-grown dog.
During his lifetime he bought and paid for ten thousand acres of land. He owned
thousands of acres of coal, timber and grazing lands. He dealt exclusively in cattle.
He erected the McClung church near his home at his own expense.

The ninth child of Charles Lewis and Nancy Jane Shawver McClung was b. 26 Dec 1874 next to Quinwood,WVA.(According
to his family bible). He married 26 Dec 1900 to Lillie Dure McClung (b. 8 June 1879 to Clark Brown McClung). They
lived with his mother and four sisters, Ollie, Piney Jane, Martha and Peachie on Cornelious Miller McClung's farm,
(located on Big Mtn.),that Nancy bought in 1898. They next moved to Peases Knob in 1901, (located north of Quinwood),
and about 1916 moved to ECK McClung's original farm ,(located on Big Mtn.). ORANGE died 4 Feb 1945 at John Hopkins
Hospital in Balt. Md. ORANGE was admired, respected and known throughout the area. He had the patience of JOB and
his kindness earned him many close friends. His GOOD NAME and deeds are still remembered in Rupert and Quinwood.
Lillie moved to Webster Springs, WVA with her daughter Trudie and died at the age of 96 on 8 June 1975. Orange and
Lillie are buried at the End Of The Trail, Clintonville, WVA.

1902 on Peases Knob, above Quinwood,WVa. He married (1) Cathleen O. Dorsey, daughter of Labon and Rosie Phitzpatrick
Dorsey of Big Mtn., Aug 1926. They lived on Big Mtn. and had six children. Cathleen died 25 Sept 1938 after the
birth of her twins, Margaret and Donna, and was buried next to her daughter Marjorie at the Mount Zion Church
Cemetary. Elmer married (2) Bertha Jones and lived in Belburn, WVa where he died 10 July 1969. He is buried at the
Wallace Memorial Cemetary, Clintonville, WVa.
The first child of Elmer and Cathleen McClung was born 10 Oct 1927 and died 23 Nov 1927. Marjorie was buried at
the Mount Zion Cemetary.
The second child of Elmer and Cathleen McClung was born 6 Oct 1929 on Big Mtn. In the 40's,while serving in
the Army in Germany, he married a German girl, Betty. They lived in Beckley, WVa and had two children, Susan and
Michael. Homer divorced Betty and remarried. He lived in Beckley, WVa.

b) Orval married Beatrice Bobbitt and lived in Enon, Ohio. They had three children, Gary, Randy and Connie.
c) Curtis married Gay (?) and lived in Enon, Ohio. They had a boy and a girl. d) Ruth married (1) Laton Leach
and had one daughter, Kathy, (2) Jeff Polen and they lived in Enon, Ohio.
The third child of Robert Orange and Lillie Dure McClung was born 16 May 1908 on Peases Knob. She married Lester
J. Witt 8 Nov 1930 in Elkins, WVa. by Rev. Smith B. Hart. They lived at Dawson, WVa. Lester died 3 June 1977
and was buried at Dolen Cemetary, Dawson. They had seven children. a) Glen was born 28 July 1931 on Big Mtn and
died 9 Dec 1935 from deptheria. Buried Dolen Cemetary, Dawson. b) Roe Edwin (Buddie) married Edna Stevens and
had two children, Don and Rhea. They lived in Grafton, Va. Buddie was retired from the Navy. c) Dale Lester
married Jenny Johnson. One son, Chuckie. They lived in St. Charles, Mo. d) (Twins) Carol married Ann Paterson
and had three children, Mikel, Paul and Bridgett. They lived in Dawson, WVa. e) (Twins) Carl married Clarence
F. Wescott from Va. They had two daughters, Tracy and Carla. They lived in Seford, Va. f). Murrell married Donna
Cadle and two children, Mark and Melody and one adopted son. They lived in Covington, Va.

The fourth child of Robert Orange and Lillie Dure McClung was born 22 Jan 1910 on Peases Knob. He married
Margarette Trout 27 Oct 1934. Her parents were Roy Trout and Lucy Amick. Peary was a jack of all trades, just
like his father. He could tell you what was wrong with your car, long before it got down the mountain to his
house. He lived on Big Mtn, Levisy, California, Levisy, Charmco, Oregon and finally Quinwood, WVa. Peary
died 22 June 1977 and was buried at Mount Zion Church, Big Mtn.. They had two children. a) Veda was born on
Big Mtn and married Erwin Aishire in California and moved to Oregon. They had three children. b) Orren was
born on Big Mtn and stayed with his father. He never married.
The fifth child of Robert Orange and Lillie Dure McClung was born 21 June 1917 on Big Mtn., Rupert WVa. She
married Laurence Arnet Dorsey 8 Apr 1936 at the Rupert Methodist Church by Rev Allen. Laurence was born
19 Jan 1916 on Big Mtn and was the son of Labon and Rosie Phitzpatrick Dorsey. They lived on Big Mtn, Belburn
and Quinwood, WVa before moving to Glen Burnie, Md. Laurence died 4 Feb 1972. They had one son, Herman, who
married (1) Laura Hall and had three children, Sandy, Scott and Sherry, (2) Ann (?).
The sixth child of Robert Orange and Lillie Dure McClung was born 4 June 1922 in ECK McClung's original home
on Big Mtn. She was no bigger than a minute and was just plumb beautiful. (Trudie) married Orville Thomas Miller
28 July 1945 in Baltimore, Md. They later moved to Webster Springs, WVa. Trudie and Orval took care of Trudie's
mother, Lillie Dure, and her brother Elmer's daughter, Margaret. They also had their daughter , Linda, born April
1947. Their home had the devout christian (Lillie), the baby sitter (Margaret), the provider (Orvil) and the
homemaker (Trudie). Ain't no whoppers and goodern's toldt in that house atall. Linda married her childhood
sweetheart is now Linda Miller Exline. They have two children and live in Summersville, WVA. Lillie died 8 June
1975 and Orvil died 29 April 1985.

educational system at Crichton. She taught at the elementary school while Dayton was the Postmaster of Quinwood.
b) Pat married Bob Dabney. c) Emma Lou married Rev. Parker and lived on O'Dell Hill until Myrtle's death around
1960. They moved to Charlottesville, Va. d) Harold (Harry) md. Barty Whitlock and lived on O'Dell Hill. e) Lloyd
md. a Leigh? and was the manager of the Imperial Smokeless Coal Co. Store in Quinwood. j) Little Jay lived in

McMillion. He was age 50 at the time and she was 46. Ann was the daughter of John and
Rachel McMillion and had not been previously married. The 1860 census finds his father, Alexander
living with them and a Mary McClung b. 1844 who was not enumerated in the 1850 census.
She may have been left out of the 1850 census or may have been a niece that they took in.
William died 20 Apr 1882 and is probably buried on the farm. (from Keith McClung)
