The first son of Robert Sr. was born in Ireland abt 1740. His wife's name was Mary. He died
1863 at MLM, MD and was buried at Mc Cem. He had nine children: William, Ruth, Joseph, Samuel,
Rebecca, Rachael, Elizabeth, Nancy Ann and Mary.
The first child of Robert and Mary McClung was born ca 1760. Nothing further is known about him currently.
The second child of Robert and Mary McClung was born ca 1757 and d. 8 Feb 1838. She married John Royston 18 Dec 1784 in
Baltimore, MD. He was born 1762 in Ireland and died 11 Sep 1822 in MD. They had three children: Thomas (1787-1823),
Robert (1788-1872), and John (1790-?). Ruth died and John remarried twice and had eight more children. Contact Wayne

Thomas McClung is given in previous work as a son of Robert Jr.and Mary, but his birthday is given as
1753 which is too early for him to be a son of Robert Jr. if Robert were born in 1740. Perhaps Robert was born
earlier than that. Thomas is said to have been born in 1753 in Ireland. He emigrated to America and settled
in Baltimore.
Thomas married Nancy Graham in 1774 at Annapolis, MD. She was born 1758. They moved to Perry
county, Ohio. He was a Coverlid Weaver. He served during the Revolutionary War as a Private.
The first child of Thomas and Nancy Graham McClung was born 18 Oct 1783 in Rockingham, VA. He married Nancy
Tutwiler in 20 Feb 1804 in Rockingham, VA. She was born 26 May 1783 in Rockingham, Virginia. They resided
in Rockingham Co., VA. They moved to Fairfield Co., OH in 1812. Then they moved to Perry Co. OH where Nancy
died 12 Feb 1855. At that point, Robert sold his property and lived with his children.
He died 29 May 1858 and was buried at Lexington, Perry, OH beside his wife at the First United
Methodist Church Cemetery. They had nine children.

The second child of Robert and Nancy Tutwiler McClung was born 2 Feb 1810 in Rockingham Co., VA.

ROBERT MCCLUNG, farmer, P. O. Pleasantville, was born in Rockingham County, Va., February 20,
1810, son of Robert and Nancy (Tutwiler) McClung. He came to this county in 1838, but was
very dissatisfied at first, and went to hunting for a livelihood, which he followed for
fifteen years, when he commenced farming and bricklaying. January 28, 1836, he married Amy
O'Haver, of Logan County, Ohio, "Ama" daughter of Joseph O'HAVER and Jemima CASEBOLT on 28 Jan 1836 in , Logan,
Ohio. Amy was born on 11 Dec 1815 in , Fayette, Ohio. They had eleven children, nine of whom are
living--Nancy C., Susan E., Thomas N., Maggie L., Martha A., Joseph O., James W., David E.
and Samuel Y. Those dead are Robert J. and Henry T., the latter being killed near Knoxville,
Tenn., whilst on duty as a soldier in the late war. His sons, Robert and Thomas, took an
active part in the suppression of the rebellion. Subject has been a member of the Methodist
Episcopal Church for forty-six years. He received a very limited education. When Mr. McClung
settled here, the country had few facilities for comfort, and there being no mill here,
they had to go miles away to get their grain ground. Mrs. McClung made all her own clothing,
from the wool and flax to the finished garment, and for the balance of the family besides.
They have passed through many trials, and are now enjoying the fruits of a well-spent life.
Good health has always attended them, as they never have paid a doctor's bill.

The third child of Thomas and Nancy Graham McClung was born 7 May 1796 in VA. He md Elizabeth
____. She was born in Westmoreland Co., VA ca 1801.
They were in the 1860 census of Union Co. Ohio (spelled McLong) and in 1870 in Union County (Marysville PO) and
1880 in Champaign County.
Besides farming, Isaac was a
Collector of Internal Revenue at Cincinnati, OH. He was a relative of Pres. Harrison by
marriage. They had three children.
In Champaine County, Ohio, Isaac made a will in 1879 devising his property to son, Isaac Jr.,
and his daughter: Mariah Asher who has: Druzilla Asher, Dock Asher, Martha J. Asher; and a
daughter, Elizabeth McClung Hendrickson. Apparently there was a deceased daughter who had
a son, Isaac Converse. This will was proved in 1881. He owned two farms in the county at the
time of his death. These were
left to his wife. When she died, they went to Isaac Jr. They apparently had twelve children
and it is not apparent why so few were named in the will.
The Death Records of Champaign County, Ohio (Vol. 1, p. 122) give his death date as 21 Dec
1880 in Rush Township of Champaign Co. He was married at the time of his death. His age at
death was 84 years, 7 months, and 27 days. He was a farmer. His informant stated that he
was born in Virginia. That would be in 1796.
The Death Records of Champaign County, Ohio (Vol. 2, p. 369) give the death of Elizabeth
McClung as 19 May 1889, widow. She died in N. Lewisburg, Ohio. This gives her place of
birth as Westmoreland Co.,Virginia.
The 1830 Census of Union County, Ohio reveals that his mother or mother-in-law was living
with them. She was born in the 1750s. They had two sons and three daughters at the time.
By 1840 they had three sons and six daughters. We have not found them in the 1850 census
but we don't have the enumerations for Champaign County.
By the 1880 census, Isaac and Elizabeth are living with Isaac Jr. in Champaign County. They
both give their birthplaces as Virginia. Isaac gives his father's birthplace as Ireland.
Note: These later children might be grandchildren living with them. This listing was a
combination of the 1830 and 1840 censuses for Isaac in Union County, Ohio. Union and
Champaign Counties border each other.

should show their earlier children. Since David is so much older than her, it may have been a second
marriage for him.

County, Ohio in 1880. The home farm was deeded to him at the death of his mother, Elizabeth.
He died 21 Jul 1917.

Huntsville, Butler, Ohio. They had 8 children: 1. Westley b. ca 1809; 2. Walter Billingslea b. 9 Feb 1806; d.17 Dec 1850;

Rebecca married second, ca 1820, to Capt Lawson Cuddy who was born in Baltimore 26 May 1780. They had five children:
Nancy (b. 19 Jul 1822), Elihu (b. 12 May 1826), Isaac (b. 30 Jul 1826), Elizabeth (b. 12 May 1826), and Westley Cuddy
(b. 21 Jan 1828). Rebecca died 1856.

Hannah Elizabeth Wiley 3 Mar 1857 at Norrisville, MD. She was born 12 Feb 1834 at Houcks Mill Rd, Monkton, MD and
died 30 Jan 1916 at Harford Co., MD with burial at Norrisville, MD. They had 12 children, many of whom moved to PA.
Ephraim died 10 Feb 1918 at Harford Co., MD with burial at Norrisville.

The first child of Joseph and Charity Hare McClung was born 27 Nov 1816 in MD. He married 1) Elizabeth Schnorf in
1836. She was born 1816 in OH and died 1873. They had eleven children. In 1850 they are living in Liberty Twp,
Butler Co., OH. After the first wife died, he married 2) Anna Pierson in 1875. They had two children. She was born
1841 in OH (her father born in NJ). They were living at Liberty, Butler Co. when enumerated in the 1880 census.
Anna died in 1884.
Rev. John died 17 Aug 1898 at Bethany,Butler Co., OH.
The first child of Rev. John and Miss Schnorf McClung was born 1837. In 1860 there is a James b. 1837 and Eugenia living
at Deerfield in Warren Co., OH. Brother, Joseph is living with them. By 1880 they are enumerated at Sidney, Shelby Co.,
OH where he is working for Comns Heller as a traveling agent. His first wife, listed as Fanny was born in 1843. They
are said to have had four children who died before 1900. The 1880 shows them with Mary E. born 1869 and Ernest H. born
1869 in OH. They moved to Craftonville, CA.
The fourth child of James Irving McClung was born 1869 in Ohio, possibly Shelby County.
The fifth child of James Irving McClung was born 1873 in Ohio. His mother was given as born in PA as was his sister,
Mary's.
The child of Ernest H. McClung - may have been born in California ca 1900-4.
The second child of Rev. John and Miss Schnorf McClung was born 1839. She was age 21 in the 1860 census of Butler Co.,
OH. She had probably married before 1880.
The third child of Rev. John and Miss Schnorf McClung was born 1849. He md Miss Gustin and resided at Bowling Green,
OH (sw of Toledo). They are found in Wood County in 1880, P.O. Plain. His wife is listed as Catherine b. 1842 in OH.
They have five children spaced from 1863 to 1878 so some may have died young. They are in the 1900 census at Deerfield,
Warren Co. with two children still with them.

Census of Wood County, OH with wife Arona (Irene?) b. Nov 1869 in OH. They have three children and brother, Lee, with
them.

Children's Home. He md Miss McCabe 13 June 1878. She was born 12 Feb 1853. They made their home at Sidney, Ohio.
In 1880 he is shown as Hall McClung b. 1842 in OH. His wife is given as Mary, b. 1853 in OH. He was a traveling
salesman with only a baby, age 1: Charlotte. In 1900 they are living at Orange Twp, Shelby Co., OH. He and Mary are
living alone.
The first child of John Holland and Mary Schnorf McClung was born 19 Apr 1879 at Sidney, Shelby Co., OH. She md
a Mr. Spillman 27 Dec 1898. He was from Connersville, IN.
The fifth child of Rev. John and Miss Schnorf McClung was born 1846. He died 1871. He was not enumerated with the
family in 1870.

Monroe, Ohio. She was born 1823 in MD. They had at least ten children. By 1850 they were living in Warren Co. Ohio
in Turtlecreek Twp. The family was still there in 1860 and all their children were born in Ohio. They are found in
the 1880 census at Lebanon P.O. in Warren County, OH with three of their youngest children. They are living alone in
the 1900 census at Liberty, Warren Co., OH with their grandson, Forest L. Ann died in 1912 and James died in 1919
and is buried at Springhill Cem., Butler Co., OH.

on his father's farm. He married a Miss Riker and lived at Monroe, Ohio.
The third child of Joseph and Charity McClung was born in 1822 in OH. He is listed with them in the 1850 census and
it appear that he was married to a Rachael who was born in OH and they had three small children: G. Houston, Charity, and

and settled at Sweet Air MD. They had three children: 1) Cloe Ann Roiston Wilson b. ca 1819; 2) Mary Jane Wilson

Mason Co., OH.

in Niles, MI.

was born 14 Nov 1823. They moved to Berrien, Berrien Co., Michigan where he died in 1881 and she died 19 Jan 1900.
The 1880 census find them with three children still at home: S. Mary b. 1856 in OH; Margaret (Maggie) b. 1858 in OH;
Jennie b. 1866 in OH. In 1860 they were living at Liberty, Butler Co., Oh with William, Mary S. and Margaret.

1860 census of Niles, Michigan p. 105. Probably this man.
The fifth child of Thomas R. and Margaret Pocock McClung was born 1828 in Monkton, MD. He md Elizabeth (b. ca 1830).
He died in Ohio.
The sixth child of Thomas R. and Margaret Pocock McClung was born ca 1830.
The ninth child of Joseph and Chloe Riston McClung was born 6 Mar 1801 at Monkton, MD. She md William Hill who
was b. ca 1800.
The third child of Robert and Mary McClung was born 5 Mar 1765 in MD. He married Charlotte Fugate
12 Jan 1803 at Baltimore Co., MD. She was a relative of the Royal Family of the
English Crown. She was born ca 1764 in Monkton, Baltimore, MD. They hd four children. They moved to Florence, PA.
They were living in Washington Co., PA in 1834. He made application for pension for
service in the Revolutionary War.

She was born in 1805 in Brook Co. WV. The family moved to PA when Adam was only abaout two years of
age. After his marriage, they moved to Ohio in 1850, living in Lick Twp., Jackson Co., OH.
They had six children.
The first child of Adam and Alice Coole McClung was born in 1831 in PA. He md Miss Fisher.
They resided in Jackson Co., OH. Samuel died in 1902 in Jackson Co., OH.
The second child of Adam and Alice Coole McClung was born 1833 in PA. He remained single
all his life. He studied law. He died 1864 in Jackson, OH.
The third child of Adam and Alice Coole McClung was born 1835 in PA. He was a printer. He
remained single all his life. He died 1855.
The fourth child of Adam and Alice Coole McClung was born 1837 in PA. He md Rebecca Rice.
He died in Jackson Co., OH. He was a farmer.
The fifth child of Adam and Alice Coole McClung was born 1841 in PA. He md Elizabeth Prentis.
They lived in Chillicothe, OH. He was killed in 187? from falling from a railway train in Chillicothe, OH.
The sixth child of Adam and Alice Coole McClung was born 1844 in PA. She married James West.
They lived in Chicago, IL.
The second child of Samuel and Charlotte Fugate McClung was b. 1806 Frankfort Spring, HanoverTwp, Beaver Co. PA.
He md 1) Sarah Duncan. She was b. 12 Jul 1810 and died at Florence PA. They lived at Frankfort Springs,
PA and had one known child: Robert. Caleb md 2) Rachel Hartford, b. ca 1808. Caleb md 3) Maria Shannon.
Caleb died 1879 at Florence Hanover Twp., Beaver Co., PA. In 1880 Maria is living with 13 year old Cary White (m) in
the home. We only know of two children at
this time.
The first child of Caleb and Sarah Dungan McClung was born 11 Jan 1834. She md James
Torrence 17 Feb 1857 at Frankfort, PA. They had nine children: Samuel D., James McClung,
Sarah E., Alice R., Jemina Jane, Cordella, Maud, Robert N., and Mary Agnes Torrence.
Mary died 24 July 1903.
The second child of Caleb and Sarah Dungan McClung was born 8 June 1835 at Stubenville, OH.
He married Mary E. Titus. She was born 22 May 1840 in Cassville, OH. OH. This report from the Cadiz Democrat Sentinel,
Harrison County, Ohio dated 22 Jan 1862:
On the 16th of January, 1862, by the Rev. T. R. Crawford, at the parsonage, Moorefield
Township, Mr. R. D. McClung of Frankfort Springs, Pennsylvania, to Miss Mary E. Titus,
daughter of Uriah Titus of Cassville, Ohio.
Robert died 22 Feb 1918 at Beaver Co., PA. Mary died 16 May 1894. They had one known child.
The first child of Robert and Mary Titus McClung was born ca 1867 in PA. They are in the 1880 census of Beaver Co.
PA.
The third child of Samuel and Charlotte Fugate McClung was b.29 May 1809 in Lick, Jackson Co. OH. He md
Nancy Wilson in 1837. She was b. 1816 Washington Co., PA; and died 15 May 1897 in Jackson Co
Ohio. Mordecai was a blacksmith.
He fell in 1841 from a wagon and was partially paralized in one arm. He then began farming
and did this for the remainder of his life. They lived in 1850 in Lick, Jackson, Ohio.
They had 10 children. Mordecai died 27 Feb 1879 in Lick, Jackson Co., OH.
The first child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 16 June 1839 in OH. She md
James H. Rice in 1865. They lived in Jackson, OH. they had five children: Robert K.,
William, Addie, Mordecia Eliza, Lyde Rice. Mary Jane died in 1879 Jackson, OH.
The second child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 7 Sep 1841 in OH. He md
Anna Harrell on 15 Sep 1870. She was born ca 1842 and died 1920 in Jackson Co. OH. He was a farmer in Jackson
County, OH. They had three children: John J., Nellie M. and __.
The third child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 8 Sep 1843 in OH. He moved
to Atchinson, KS in 1865 with his brother Samuel. He began overland teaming to Fort Kearney
and Denver. he was a bookkeeper and night herder for the wagon trains. While bringing in
the cattle after a hard night's rain, he was drowned in a swollen stream 1 Aug 1865.
The fourth child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 8 Jul 1846 in OH. She md
William Thomas. They lived in Jackson,OH. They had one child: Harry Thomas.
The fifth child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 8 Jul 1848 in OH. She died
when about two years old. She was not included in the 1850 census of Jackson Co., OH.
The sixth child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 28 Oct 1850. He married
Barbara Alice Hatten 8 Apr 1885.
The seventh child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 14 Mar 1853 in OH. She
md Benjamin Johnson 8 Aug 1872. He was b. ca 1852 and died in Jackson Co., OH. They lived in Jackson, OH.
They had two children: Cora B. and Ella Johnson. Annie E. died 12 Aug 1875 in Jackson Co., OH..

The ninth child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 1 Aug 1856 in OH. She was
a twin to Elizabeth. She md Clark Watts. She died March 1875.
The tenth child of Mordecai and Nancy Wilson McClung was born 10 Feb 1860. In 1880 she was living with her
widowed mother at Jackson, OH. She married Arthur Carry.
The fourth child of Samuel and Charlotte Fugate McClung was b. in MD. She married Mr. Saxon.
The fourth child of Robert and Mary McClung was born about 1765 in Monkton, Baltimore, MD. She married
James Birmingham 2 May 1784. He was b. ca 1762 in Harford Co., MD and died 27 Jan 1795. They had seven
children: Margaaret, Mary, James, Robert, Samuel, REbecca and Matthew Birmingham.
The fifth child of Robert and Mary McClung was b. ca 1767 in Monkton, Baltimore Co., MD. She married Thomas Gorsuch
15 Dec 1787 at Baltimore, Md. They had a child: Charles Gorsuch b. 1789.
The sixth child of Robert and Mary McClung was b. 24 Nov 1770 in Monkton, Baltimore, MD. She married William Jones
24 Mar 1789. He was b. ca 1770.
The seventh child of Robert and Mary McClung was b. ca 1771 in Monkton, Baltimore, MD. She md Bejamin Davis
15 May 1792.
The eighth child of Robert and Mary McClung. This is very likely Mary who was married
to John Gorsuch 18 Oct 1791. The Clark Family Bible has Mary's death as 28 Jan 1861.
She was living with her son, Thomas Gorsuch, in Franklin Twp, Jackson Co., OH in the 1850
census and she was 77 years old. She was living in Salisbury Twp. Meigs Co., OH in
the 1860 census with her son, John Gorsuch, Jr. and she was 87 years old, so that would make
her born about 1773. Both censuses give Maryland as her state of birth. Mordecia McClung
was living next door to Thomas Gorsuch in the 1840 census of Jackson Co., OH. He was
their nephew and the best circumstantial evidence to place this couple here. (Researcher,
Doris A. Guy).
Mary and John Gorsuch had three children: John who died in Meigs Co., OH, Mary b. 8 Apr 1797, and Thomas b. ca 1808. Wayne McGinnis has further information about her descendants.
