In the 1860 census, Charles was living at Clarksburg.
By 1880, we have only found George W. still in Harrison and James A. is listed in at Glenville, Gilmer
County. Charles died in Harrison County 22 Aug 1868. (Anita McClung, researcher).
( Robert E. McClung, researcher, found more of the family in the 1880 Gilmer Co. census
in 1995 but did not record the page numbers or ages for the rest of them. Robert E. McClung
was living in Florida in 1995 but we have lost track of him.)

CHILDREN:
1. JAMES ALEXANDER McCLUNG: the first known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
1839 in VA (probably Augusta County). James married 1) to Sarah Elder 17 May 1860. Sarah
died 5 Aug 1868 (Harrison Deaths).
He married 2) Louisa A. Shinn in 1869 in Harrison County.
They moved to Gilmer County, WV where we find them in 1880. Anita's record has his death as
1920.
Anita is descended from Ulysses:
In the 1930 census, the head of the household was Ulysses Frank McClung who married
Icy Mae Minter. They had been married approximately 6 years at the time this census was
taken (1930). Ulysses Frank was first married to Hattie Isenhart, in Gilmer County in 1897.
I was most interested in the son, Ulysses H. (Harold) McClung, who was born in 1928 and died
in 1984. The father of Ulysses Frank McClung was James A. McClung and he married Louise A.
Shinn in Harrison County, WV in 1869. How I contacted the daughter of Ulysses Harold
(Pa Harold as I knew him) The 1930 census of Lewis County, WV.shows the family of Ulyus
Frank McClung. The name should be Ulysses Frank McClung, b. 1874. He married first
Hattie Isenhart, and second to Icy Mae Minter. Ulysses Harold McClung, b. 1928, Lewis
County, WV, d. 1984, Dickson County, TN, was the son of Ulysses Frank McClung.
2. JULIAN McCLUNG: a daughter, second known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
ca 1837 in VA. We do not have her marriage record.
3. MARY J. B. McCLUNG: the third known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
1838 in VA.
4. GEORGE W. McCLUNG: the fourth known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
ca 1841 in VA. He remained in Harrison County where he married about 1878 to Anna. By
1880 they had a daughter, Ida S.
5. WILLIAM H. McCLUNG: the fifth known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
ca 1842 in VA.
6. CHARLES L. McCLUNG: the sixth known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
1846 in VA. He married Martha Elder 15 Dec 1864. She was a sister to Sarah, wife of James.
7. MARCELLUS McCLUNG: the seventh known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
ca 1847 in VA.
8. JOHN L. McCLUNG: the eighth known known child of Charles and Sarah Gabhart McClung was born
ca 1848 in VA.
