Herbert Donald (Chuck) McClung

Chuck was born 17 Jan 1917 at Waverly, Missouri and died 23 March 1996 at his home in Springfield, Missouri after a long illness. He was the son of William Lee and Edith Basha (Caldwell) McClung.

Chuck grew up in Warsaw, Missouri and in his early years owned and operated a chicken hatchery there. He met and married Louie E. Sweaney 2 July 1939. During WW II, he worked at a shipyard in San Diego, CA. In 1948 they came to Springfield and made their home here. Chuck worked at Consumers Hardware where he was manager for many years. For twelve years he and his wife owned and operated a True Value Hardware in Mt. Vernon, MO. He is a member of the Galloway Baptist Church.

He was loved and respected by his family for his wonderful sense of humor and his dedication to pro- viding for their needs.

He is survived by a brother, E. C. "Bill" McClung of Orange, California; his wife, three daughters, Judith Ann, Karen Lou Carden, wife of George Carden, and Deborah Lynn Jackson, wife of David Jackson; four grandchildren, Paula Fennell, Karla Shaltout, Ron Toler and Don L. Toler; four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Kenneth McIntosh on . . with a family night the previous evening.
