We have just been informed that Randy McClung passed away 15 Apr 2002. Fern, his wife,
called to let us know. The funeral was on the 19th. He had fallen down some steps at his
sister's home
on the 14th and lost consciousness. He died the following day, never regaining consciousness.
Randy was the driving force in the McClung Association for many years. He joined our small
group in 1975 and in 1976 offered to serve as corresponding secretary. He did this and much,
much more over the years. He coordinated research on all the lines except the Greenbrier
Branch. He helped identify the connections between many lines that Rev. McClung had not
discovered. A couple of years he served as editor when Judith was not available to publish.
He kept up the mailing list and always supplied the address labels when Journals were ready
to go out. That meant he had to coordinate with the treasurer to keep the membership list
current. At one point he published the listing of the research lines the membership were
working. This has been an invaluable aid to promote the work. He republished the original
McClung Genealogy by Rev. McClung two times and sold them to those interested so we could
coordinate research. He worked to promote a large increase in our membership. We will miss
him dearly.
