Note: Our website is divided into two sections: the Database where abstracts and transcriptions
of original records are posted. Some of these were previously published in the McClung Family
Association Journal. These are referenced by volume and page. Those since our last mailing
of volume 31 are listed as "New".
The other part of the website is for family listings. We have started with the McClung
Genealogy (1904) by Rev. William McClung and have attempted to correct errors and omisions.
In some cases whole lineages have been added. We are adding the family album pages. If you
have pictures to send, everyone would like to see them.
We have had photos sent in from other lines, but we don't have any for the Alabama McClungs.
Maryann Gentzel has sent in the will of Micajah Williamson whose executrix was Polly Williamson (nee Early). You may
see this at Jackson Co. GA Probates. We are trying to determine if this Polly was the
wife to Reuben McClung, Sr. If anyone has information that would lend a clue, we are all interested.
Harry McClung has sent in the jpg image of the George McClung and Abigail Callison
Marriage Record. It is in file 160.
Several people have worked together to bring to us the memories of Trudie McClung Miller. See Looking Back.
Both her parents were McClungs so this record is linked in File 153 and 178. John Pomeroy sent a copy and then Al Zopp
scanned it in and sent each page.
Here is a link to maps of Greenbrier sent in by Bud Pomeroy:
Greenbrier. Click upper left for the Big Mountain
area. This has also been added to the Journal Index under Greenbrier, WV.
We have further information on Charles McClung in the Lost Limbs section. He was located
in the 1840 census of Harrison Co., WV. Bill Davenport found him for Anita McClung and Sarah Humphries Raedel. He
was born in Virginia so listed in this section. We still have not proven his lineage. Any help would be appreciated.
Cary Bradish has updated the file for Thomas with descendants of Robert. She has done
an expert job and also submitted the sources for her work. These were added at the bottom of the file.
From Anita McClung of Fayette Co.,WV:
Does anyone have any proof that the Henry C. McClung, b. 1809, Augusta County, VA, s/o Captain Henry
McClung and Elizabeth Alexander died in Houston, Harris County, TX in 1838? Henry C. McClung is listed as 4-5 PAXXX
on the McClung journal web page.
You can e-mail me at Judith McClung if you have corrections or additions to our record.
