Charles was probably born in Ireland. He emigrated from Ireland to Pennsylvania. He was
supposed to be the Capt. Charles McClung who commanded a company of Infantry belonging to the
Third Battalion Militia under Col. Hugh Mercer, in 1758. He was at "Braddock's Defeat."
