Daughter of David B. and Amy [Miles] Stancliff born Athens County, OH June 10, 1826, died Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Jan. 19, 1912 at the Topeka home of her son-in-law, William Hosea Moffet, buried Lynn Creek Cemetery, Berryton, Shawnee County, KS. Only two years old when her mother died, Sussanah went to live with a family named Black in Jackson County, OH. About 1842 she moved to Henry County, Iowa and there married Dec. 21, 1843 ALEXANDER BEAM son of Christian and Margaret [Nickell] Beam born Jackson County, OH Sept. 23, 1824 died Topeka, KS Sept. 30, 1896.

Her obituary said "Mother Beam was converted at seventeen years of age and joined the M. E. Church" it indicated that she had been an active member of the church her entire life, "Mother Beam was the mother of twelve children, four boys and eight girls, all living and married. There were at her bedside at her death seven of her daughters." "Mother Beam was the mother of twelve children, sixty grandchildren, ninety-eight great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren, making a total of one hundred and eighty descendants in all."

MARY JANE BEAM born Trenton Township, Henry County, IA Apr. 24, 1844, died Beloit, Mitchell County, KS Dec. 21, 1926, buried Walnut Creek Cemetery, Mitchell County, KS married Putnam County, MO Mar. 10, 1861 JOHN PORTER COVERT son of David and Sarah Covert born Allegheny County, PA 1838, died Glen Elder, Mitchell County, KS Apr. 8, 1898. They had ten children.

2. MARTHA ELLEN BEAM born Trenton Township, Henry County, IA Nov. 8, 1846, died LaJunta, Otero County, CO Apr. 21, 1928, buried Lake View Cemetery, Sugar City, Otero County, CO, married Scotland County, MO Oct. 29, 1861 MARTIN V. COVERT son of David and Sarah Covert born Meigs County, OH Oct. 10, 1840, died Victor, Osborne County, KS Nov. 13, 1911, . They had four children.

3. MARINDA CAROLINE BEAM born Trenton Township, Henry County, IA Sept. 11, 1848, died Harveyville, Wabaunsee County, KS Jun. 3, 1926, buried Dover Cemetery, Dover, Shawnee County, KS, married as second husband(2) Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Dec. 24, 1872 LAFAYETTE HOWEY son of James and Keziah [Crumes] Howey born Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY Dec. 14, 1837, died Harveyville, Wabaunsee County, KS Dec. 22, 1914. He was a farmer, and the couple had five children born Dover, KS.

MARIAH SUFIAH BEAM born Trenton Township, Henry County, IA Jun. 20, 1850, died Highland Park, Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Aug. 1, 1938, married Pleasant Hill, MO Feb. 10, 1868 WILLIAM HOSEA MOFFET son of Orlando Rastus and Catherine [Beam] Moffet, and a first cousin of Mariah, born Trenton Township, Henry County, IA Jan. 6, 1842, died Highland Park, Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Mar. 21, 1924. They had four children.

5. ATHUR DAVID BEAM born Trenton Township, Henry County, IA May 6, 1852, died Dalton, Sumner County, KS Mar. 3, 1930, buried Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Sumner County, KS, married Jewell County, KS Oct. 5, 1876 MARY M. SILVEY born IN Nov. 1855. They had five children.

6. ERRENIOUS MITCHELL CLAY BEAM born Trenton Township, Henry County, IA Jun. 14, 1854, died Belle Plaine, Sumner County, KS, Mar. 29, 1929, buried Belle Plaine Cemetery, married Mitchell County, KS Feb. 5, 1884 RHODA WOODS born MO Nov. 1856, died 1924, buried Belle Plaine Cemetery. They had four children.

GEORGE FILMORE BEAM born Richland Township, Putnam County, MO Dec. 11, 1856, died Denver, Denver County, CO Mar. 10, 1927, buried Deer Trail Cemetery, Deer Trail, CO, married Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Feb. 11, 1877 LAURA ELLEN MOFFET daughter of Orlando Rastus and Catherine [Beam] Moffet, a first cousin of George, born Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Jan. 20, 1859, died Denver, Denver County, CO Feb. 18, 1939, buried Deer Trail Cemetery, Deer Trail, CO.

MELISSA MANDANA BEAM born Richland Township, Putnam County, MO Jan. 24, 1859, died Burlingame, Osage County, KS Jul. 23, 1945, buried Burlingame Cemetery, married Shawnee County, KS Sept. 23, 1880 EDGAR FERDIMEND DENNY son of Grandveal Casalberry and Racheal [____] Denny born IN Jul. 15, 1852, died Burlingame, KS Oct. 24, 1917. They had three daughters, none of whom married. Letters from these ladies provided some of the Beam family records and lore.

9. WILLIAM HARVEY BEAM born Richland Township, Putnam County, MO Jan. 21, 1861, died Downs, Osborne County, KS Sept. 7, 1929, buried Downs Cemetery, married 1. Mitchell County, KS Aug. 9, 1886 MARTHA HEARN born 1868, died Cawker City, Mitchell County, KS Apr. 1894, buried Lynn Creek Cemetery, Berryton, Shawnee County, KS, married 2. Beloit, Mitchell County, KS Nov. 20, 1895 ELLEN MASON born 1871, married 3. ALIDA AMELIA ____. He had five children by first wife.

10. MINERVA EMILY BEAM born Richland Township, Putnam County, MO May 6, 1863, died Jul. 31, 1942, married May 18, 1883 JOHN SIBLEY STEARNS.

11. MAHALIA HENRIETTA BEAM born Mercer County, MO Sept. 3, 1865, died Ralston, Douglas County, NE Aug. 14, 1927, buried Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hiawatha, Brown County, KS, married 1. Beloit, Mitchell County, KS Feb. 12, 1883 DAVID ALONZO COVERT son of David and Sarah [____] Covert born Farmington Township, Van Buren County, IA Nov. 18, 1850, died Hiawatha, Brown County, KS Dec. 5, 1908, buried Hiawatha Cemetery, married 2. _____ CUNNINGHAM. Mahalia and David Covert had ten children.

12. MARTHENA CHRISTENA BEAM born Mt. Pleasant Township, Cass County, MO Dec. 25, 1867, died Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Aug. 28, 1918, buried Lynn Creek Cemetery, Berryton, KS, married Mitchell County, KS Feb. 19, 1887 ROBERT BARKLEY HASTINGS son of Samuel and Matilda [Nichols] Hastings born Danville, Hendricks County, IN, died Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Oct. 27, 1924, buried Lynn Creek Cemetery, Berryton, KS. They had six children.
