(317) SARAH ELIZA6 STANCLIFT (John Jr.5, John4, Comfort3, James2, James1)
Daughter of John Jr and Rhoba [Smith] Stanclift born North Collins, Erie County, NY June 20, 1827, died Elliot, Montgomery County, IA Oct. 4, 1908 married Colesburg, Delaware County, IA 1853, DR. GEORGE SEABURY DEWITT(1) son of Thomas and Elizabeth [Newhall] Witt born New York City Feb. 6, 1818, died Elliot, IA July 6, 1910, buried Hillside Cemetery. Born Seabury Treadwell Witt, he changed his name to George Seabury DeWitt.
Dr. DeWitt studied Medicine at Harvard University and was a surgeon in the Civil War. After the War the family moved from Colesburg, Delaware County, IA to Elliot, Montgomery County, IA in 1868(2). They had a farm one mile east of Elliot and on that farm was the "DeWitt School" where their children attended school during their early years.

4. GEORGE B. DEWITT born 1859 died young.
5. CHARLES E. DEWITT born IA Sept. 1863, married RACHEAL ____ born IA Dec. 1871(4), they lived in 1900 near his parents, and brother William.
6. WILLIAM LOWE DEWITT "Till" born Colesburg, Delaware County, IA Aug. 26, 1865, died Elliot, Montgomery County, IA Jan. 11, 1932, married Elliot, Montgomery County, IA Aug. 26, 1888 MINNIE ALMEDA TYLER daughter of Thomas Dexter and Sarah Ann [Wall] Tyler born Salem, Wapello County, IA Sept. 22, 1866, died Elliot, Montgomery County, IA Apr. 29, 1924. They were the parents of Maude DeWitt and Dorothy Helen [DeWitt] Wilkinson. In 1900 they lived near his parents and brother Charles(5).
