Daughter of William and Adelia Warren [Whitney] Stanclift born PA Nov. 1868, married 1885 or 1886(1) CHARLES L. GIDDINGS son of Francis Wilson and Charlotte [Long] Giddings born PA(2) Jan. 1867.
On May 10, 1894 for the sum of $1,500.00 William and Delia Stanclift conveyed to C. L. and Mertie Giddings, his wife, land in Waterford Township, part of Tract #408 on the old Pennsylvania Population Company Map(3). This was the area in the extreme North East part of Waterford Township that had been McKean township until it was annexed to Waterford Township. This was the area in which the members of the family from Erie County, NY congregated when they left New York State and settled in Pennsylvania.
In the 1900 census they still lived Waterford Township, Erie County, PA and Mertie had borne 4 children and 3 were living(4). By 1910 Charles was still engaged in farming in Waterford Township and the three children were with them.

1. NELLIE GIDDINGS born Erie County, PA 1887, died 1889, buried Sharp's Corners Cemetery. Her gravestone reads "dau of C.L. and M.E. Giddings".(5)
2. EVA D. GIDDINGS born Erie County, PA Feb. 1892 married second cousin, JOHN CLINTON MAY son of George W. and Roetta Jane [Proper] May born Jefferson, Ashtabula County, OH Sept. 25, 1883.
3. BLAINE or BLAYNE F. GIDDINGS born Erie County, PA Sept. 1894
4. W. WAYNE GIDDINGS born Erie County, PA Jan. 27, 1897, died Waterford, Erie County, PA Oct. 1978, probably married his second cousin HARRIET ELIZABETH MAY daughter of George and Roetta Jane [Proper] May born Jefferson, Ashtabula County, OH Feb. 5, 1898, died Jan. 28, 1928. Wayne Giddings appeared in a family reunion photograph of the May family.
