HENRY CLAY SMITH FAMILY

Daughter of John and Esther Jane [Seager] Stancliff STANCLIFT born PA Sunday, Feb. 3, 1850, died Erie County, PA Feb. 12, 1874 Aged 24 years 9 days, buried Sharp's Corner Cemetery near her brother Watson and her father's first wife, Lucy S., married Wednesday Nov. 14, 1866 HENRY CLAY SMITH son of Martin and Amy Ann [Goodhue] Smith of Wheatland, Monroe County, NY. Henry's family moved from NY to PA in 1865. After Marietta's death Henry Smith moved to Huntsburg, Geauga County, OH. He married a second time in Geauga County on Oct. 14, 1875(1). to Nettie/Annettie Snow daughter of William and Almira [Lovell] Snow born Oneida County, NY June 29, 1842. Her family was also living in Huntsburg, Geauga County, OH at the time of their marriage. Annettie died April 30, 1923 at the home of William Martin Smith in Westfield, IN.
1870 Census Henry C. Smith 32, Mariette C. 20 and Jennie age 1were living McKean, Erie County, PA and just a few houses away was Mariette's Uncle, Reuben Stancliff (306), his wife Melissa [Pinney] Stancliff and their son Melvin.
CHILDREN: Henry Clay and Marietta [Stanclift] Smith

2. JENNIE ANGELINE SMITH born McKean, Erie County, OH August 1870, died Fowler Township, Trumbull County, OH Feb. 22, 1910, buried Hillside Cemetery, married Huntsburg, Geauga County, OH Dec. 31, 1891 ALBERT E. COOK.
3. WILLIAM MARTIN SMITH born McKean, Erie County, PA Feb. 28, 1872, died Westfield, Hamilton County, IN Apr. 2, 1964 aged 92 years, married Chardon, Geauga County, OH Oct. 16, 1893 IDA ARDELIA MILLER of Wheatland, Monroe County, NY. His nephew, Dale Cook, remembers that he was called Reverend William Martin Smith, was in the Friends Church and was a missionary in Africa and in South America, settling after that in Westfield, Hamilton County, IN.
