Son of Josiah and Hannah [Tucker] Wood born Aug. 22, 1756 Dartmouth, Bristol County, MA married 1.June 17, 1779 at Dartmouth, Bristol County, MA, BATHSHEBA SANFORD, married 2. Mar. 20, 1792 LILLIS GIFFORD, daughter of Abiel and Joanna [Potter] Gifford of Dartmouth, Bristol County, MA born July 27, 1763 and birth registered in Records of the Society of Friends, Dartmouth MM. Chilion and brother Abraham appeared in the 1790 Census of Ballston, Albany County, NY. They moved by 1800 to Granville, Washington County, NY. They were both listed as being among the first ministers(1). The early records of the Quaker meetings in Granville, unfortunately burned and compilations of the first membership had to be gleaned from the memories of people in the area. Along with brothers David, and Abraham this family moved to Collins, Erie County, NY.(2)

CHILDREN: Chilion and Bathsheba [Sanford] and Lillis [Gifford] Wood- Not certain which children are by 1st marriage

1. CHILION WOOD born 1785/6, died July 1, 1866, buried Volusia Cemetery Westfield, Chautauqua County, NY, married RUTH KINTCH and lived Ballston, NY and Easton (near Granville), Washington County, NY.

2. CHARLES WOOD born probably Ballston, Saratoga County, NY May 1, 1790, died North Collins, Erie County, NY Nov. 23, 1861, married Mar. 16, 1803 SARAH TUCKER. He lived in North Collins very near the Stanclift property.

3. RUTH WOOD

4. ELISHA WOOD said to have lived Cantor, NY, but probably the man in the 1830 Census aged 40-50 living Collins Township, Erie County, NY.

5. BATHSHEBA WOOD

6. ELIZABETH WOOD

7. PHITON WOOD

8. LILLIS WOOD

While it is certain that the last three children belong somewhere in the Chilion Wood family, and it is probable that they belong here, there is no specific proof of this relationship.

9. MARY WOOD may belong here if so born 1793 while family in Granville, Washington County, NY, married Willard Stanclift

10. PHEOBE WOOD may belong here if so born 1797 while family in Granville, Washington County, NY, married Jesse Stanclift.

11. ABIEL WOOD born 1804 The father of Lillis [Gifford] Wood was named Abiel. He was living within the cluster of related Woods families in North Collins, it is possible that he belongs here. He married SARAH ____.

URSLINE WOOD born 1767 living with Mary [Wood] Stancliff, widow of Willard Stanclift in 1850, and appeared on sale/distribution of Willard Stancliff's real estate in 1846. It is possible that she was representing the minor children of Willard.
