My name is Jennifer O'Rourke, daughter of Jay O'Rourke, and granddaughter
of Leo O'ROURKE. I don't know anything about my grandfather's family,
and I believe he died about 27 years ago, around. All I know about my
grandfather is that he and his family lived in the North English, Iowa
area or the Keswick, Iowa area. His wife is Teresa O'Rourke, and her
maiden name was Agnew. Teresa O'Rourke, his wife, still lives in North
English, IA, and as do my parents, Jay and Gail. Leo and Teresa O'Rourke
had six sons, James O'Rourke, John O'Rourke, Joseph O'Rourke, Gerald
(Jerry) O'Rourke, Jeffrey O'Rourke, and Donald (Jay) O'Rourke--my father.
I would love to know more about my grandfather and his ancestors, but
nobody in my family seems to know anything about him. The O'Rourke Query
Web Page, along with all the O'Rourke Family Tree web pages are very
interesting, but I don't even know where to begin looking for this. If
you have any information regarding my grandfather, or any of my
ancestors, please email me at: [email protected]

I am searching for anything to do with Thomas H O'ROURKE, and his
daughter, Mary. Thomas was from Prince Edward Island, possibly
Tignish, but was not rumored to have been there long. He was born c.
1860's. He married a woman named Mary Jane CARBERRY, and they
eventually made their way in or around Montreal, Quebec. Their
daughter, Mary G (Gertrude?) was born there in 1885. Mary would later
have a child Lena by John FOLEY in Portland, Maine, and two more
children, Michael and Mary after her marriage to a John COVELL, also in
Portland. Where my information is somewhat obscure, I would
appreciate any and all information that might possibly be related to
them!

The SOURK name, family tradition states is derived from O'Rourke.
William Sourk came over in the late 1800's, again tradition says, from
Ireland. Has anyone info on this, or on his brothers, sisters, mother,
father?

I was wondering if any one could help me locate O Rourkes that
came from Moyne Post Office, Co. Longford, Ireland. My Grandfather,
Joseph O Rourke, had told me that he had ten brothers and sisters,
five had moved to America. Aunt Annie (Breslin) moved back to Longford to
live with my Grandfather. Aunt Mariah did go home one time and bought my
grandfather a farm in Legga, that is where he raised his four children.
My grandmothers name was Emma Macken, she died when I was born.
I suppose this is not much help to you but it is all I have at the moment.
Thank You Emily Mc Kee

I am researching the ancestry of my grandmother,
Ann (Anna, Annie) O'Rourke. (The name often appears without the O'
prefix in our family). She was born in Old Monkland, SCT, on 3 July 1867,
the daughter of John Rourke (bricklayer) and Isabella Wilson. She died in
Bangor, ME, on 23 May 1924.
Her father, John (O')Rourke was born circa 1841 to Patrick (O')Rourke
(coal miner) and Mary Burns. Patrick was born in Ireland and was dead by
1864, while his wife was still living in 1864, apparently somewhere in
Ireland.
John O'Rourke had 3 children, that I know of, by his first wife, Isabella
Wilson: Francis (bricklayer), b. in SCT in 1864 (he later moved to
Elyria, OH); Ann (above); Mary (b. in SCT 1865). By a second wife
(Bridget Dinnan) he had one: Elizabeth (b. SCT c. 1878). All these events
took place in the area east of Glasgow.
I would like to find the IRISH CO. OF ORIGIN of John, if possible. Up to
now, I have no idea what it is and have searched the SCT census
thoroughly. They say only "Ireland."
He may have had a brother Philip. The only male names I know of in this
line, for sure, are thus Patrick, John, and Francis. I have found the
"first-name trail" to be significant in other lines.

My Gf, Austin Patrick ROURKE arrived in Lowell, Ma in
the early 1900's, unsure of date. He arrived with his sister Annie and
perhaps more brothers & sisters. He had at least one brother named Bernard.
Austin's birthdate is approx. August 1893. He married Mary
Josephine ROURKE, who was a cousin by marriage, and may have traveled
with the family. I would like to know who he traveled with and perhaps,
parentage. The only clue we may have is at a family gravesite, where there
is a Bridget, who died in 1913 at the age of 54. There are also two young
children buried there in the early 1900's. The gravesite is in Lowell, Ma,
St. Patrick's. The family lived in Innistyman, County Clare.
We believe Bridget to be Mary Josephine's mother (?). She had sisters
Annie, Jenny (Genny), Nellie, and brother Jack. Jack had a son named
Thomas, who lived with my Father, Joseph ROURKE. We understand there to be
a Leitrim origin, or I have always been told County Claire (my father
refers to Innis Steinman as the home).

My name is Gary Michael RUARK. I'm a Maryland, Eastern Shore
RUARK, transplanted to Florida. I'm 39 year's old. My great grandfather
was John RUARK. He lived on Hooper's Island Maryland, a very remote place
(waterman town: fishing, crabing, oystering, the whole place is about 3
feet above sea level on the eastern side of the Chespeake Bay). Hooper's
Island is a very nice place, great for relaxing! J.R. had a wife, her
name was HOOPER. They had two children, the girl died very young, the
other was my grandfather, Thurman RUARK. J.R. died sometime between
1900 and 1905. My great grandmother (I can't remember her first name?
Maybe it was Ida?) remarried to a WINGATE, he was the Hooper's Island
lighouse keeper. He died and she married again, to an ASHTON. He
didn't live long either and she died sometime in the mid-fifties.
T.R. had 5 children, including my father Vernon, all the children are
alive. That's all I know about the RUARK's except that my great
grandfather J.R. had a brother and cousins.
There are a lot of RUARK's on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and in
Delaware (just look at the web. sites). I don't know if any research
has been performed by them. If it has, I'm sure our branch of the
family is represented somewhere in that research. Can anybody help?

I beleive they may have come form Anaharvy in Kings County Ireland.
I believe that a Michael ROURKE & wife Mary had 6 - 7 children who
were born in Ireland, John born 1797, William, Michael, James, Susan, Mary, and maybe Lucinda
who died Nov. 14, 1826. If you know of anyone who may be connected please

I am trying to locate descendants of Patrick O'ROURKE,
from Newry in County Down. His brother, Peter O'ROURKE, my great-great
grandfather, came to Boston and enlisted in the Massachusetts 19th
Volunteer regiment, Co. F during the Civil War.
Patrick apparently came to the US in mid-century but did not contact his
brother. Apparently, he had simply up and left, and a friend of Peter's
who knew James encountered him on a street, possibly on the Boston
Common, after the Civil War.
A third brother, Owen, stayed behind in Newry and died around 1910. His
grave lies in the old Catholic cemetery there.

My Great-Grandfather was Jeremiah O'ROURKE, b1855 - d1934. He
emigrated from Co. Leitrim (I believe Dromohaire) to Newfoundland. I'm
sure he had siblings who either emigrated also - either with him or on
their own to other places. In Newfoundland he married (wife's name
unknown - but want desperately to know), had 3 children: John "Jack",
George, and Anne. He was a mailcarrier by dogsled across the great
Labrador. I have his death certificate but it does not list his parents
or his wife's names. His three kids went to Boston.
* Jack lived in Newton Upper Falls, Boston. Had 4 sons, 1 daughter.
All 4 sons died violent deaths before their father's own death: 1 as a
fireman, 2 as policemen, 1 in the U.S. Army 'Baton Death March' of WWII.
* Anne married Jim WILSON, had 2 daughters - Elmina & Mary James.
* George went to Idaho, worked as a miner, married Frances Anne Dobbin
Barker (O'BRIEN), widow of their mutual friend O'BRIEN. She had one child,
Marie O'BRIEN, together they had 5 more children - one of whom is my
father, George Jeremiah O'ROURKE, Jr. If there's any connection at all,
please contact me.

My great grandfather Bernard O'ROURKE was born Jan 1, 1838 in County
Donegal, Ireland. Family history says he was born the night his father
died. He came to the United States in 1852 or 1853, port of entry
unknown but perhaps New Orleans. A sister Bridget and an Uncle Kavanaugh
supposedly came with him. The only trace we have of either is an elderly
cousin had heard Uncle Kavanaugh had a store on the levee in St. Louis.
Bernard went by Bernard or Barney ROURKE. He married Anna Jane BARNES on
May 14,1871 in Macon Co., MO. and served in the Union Army in the Civil
War. He died Feb. 14, 1919. If any of this sounds familiar, I would love
