Pentland from Great Britain/Ireland in C. P. Court on 2 October 1876 and (3) William D. Pentland from Great Britain/Ireland in Superior Court on 7 October 1867.
Death 09 Jun 1836 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Where he was originally buried is unknown at this time. His remains were later removed to Baltimore. An index to death registrations in Philadelphia includes only one Pentland, a 27-year old William who died in 1855.
Burial 26 Sep 1859 Baltimore City, Maryland; tombstone in Greenmount Cemetery, section WW 114 1/2 reads: To Our Father and Mother. John Pentland Born April 13th 1797. Died in Philadelphia June 9th 1836 [the last digit is very difficult to decipher but is likely a six]. Also Margaret Pentland his wife born July 22, 1798 [nearly illegible last digit, likely an eight] died June 15, 1860. This is followed by a four line epitaph which is illegible except for a word or two, including:
