David Bennett (left) and George F. L. Copes (right) served in the Civil War together.
Later, they were brothers-in-law.

This beautiful cased photo is probably a tinted tintype.
The photographic studio is unknown but the image was made
in Baltimore between 1862 and 1864.

David lost an arm in battle. He later lived in Baltimore where he
was a letter carrier. For a later photo
