Baltimore City Nineteenth-Century Photos

Lena Gruss Bremer

Lena Gruss Bremer

Lena Gruss Bremer had this photo made in the Kirkness Studio
located at the corner of Broadway and Bank Streets.
The image was likely made about 1900. It is most notable
because of the incredible lace dress and collar that she is
wearing. There is also a large heart-shaped locket which does
not show very well in this picture.

An interesting irony about this photo is that it is no doubt the same person,
same time and same studio as another in this collection identified as Lena Gross.
These photos were purchased (by the webmaster) years apart in two different
antique stores. The only link is that both shops are in Fell's Point. The surname
written on the back of the photos is clearly spelled Gross on one and
Gruss on the other.
