Baltimore City Nineteenth-Century Photos

Willie Clarke

These two Carte-de-Visite images of Willie Clarke were found in an embossed brown leather album containing about 50 CDVs. The images are mostly from Maryland photographers but also a few from Washington, DC. The majority of the pictures are of children, a few adults. The ones that I can date, range from 1860 to 1880.

The cover of this album is imprinted with the name "Eunice E. Pritchard." The only identified photos are the two above. The image on the right says, "8 weeks" on the front. On the back, "Willie Clarke, Give it Up."

The image on the left was made at the John Holyland Studios between 1865 and 1880. The second image was photographed by Richard Walzl at 46 North Charles Street between 1873 and 1881.
