Thomas Cooper was born in Baltimore County, Maryland
on 8 February 1814. He died 20 May 1881. His wife,
Nancy Matthews was born 8 April 1816 and died 18 January 1869.
The Coopers lived in Beckleysville and are interred in
Wiseburg United Methodist Church Cemetery in Baltimore County.
These perfectly reproduced Carte-de-Visites (CDVs)
date from
approximately the Civil War era and were created
in the photo studio of Fischer & Brother. This gallery
operated from 1859 to 1865 at 103 West Baltimore Street and
95 Baltimore Street. Although I've collected many
examples from 19th-century Baltimore photographers, this
is the first from Fischer and Brother.
