This photo of Anna Davis is a Carte-de-Visite made
by the Israel and Company
Photo Studio in Baltimore, most likely during the
Civil War. It is one of three photographs
with subject identification found in a CDV album
of 12 images. This album
is a very small leather bound book in very good
condition.
The photos are extremely interesting. Most of them
were made in Baltimore, however
there are images from Washington DC; Norfolk, Virginia;
Wilimington, Delaware and
Hightstown, New Jersey.
The other identified subjects are (1) Alexander
Goodridge from New Orleans who
is identified as "Your Brother and Friend" and
(2) Robert Grimshaw, a
distinguished elderly gent with top hat and cane
whose image was made
in a Wilmington, Delaware studio. Most interestingly,
his date of birth is
included on the back ... 7 February 1788.
