Mary Murphy Gallagher was born in County Kildaire,
Ireland in 1865.
This cabinet card image was made about 1890 in
the Matthew Stahn Gallery
when Mary was about 25. She had recently arrived
in Baltimore.
The pin pictured here at her neck now belongs to
the submitter's wife.
Twin brothers, Charles and Francis Gallagher were
born in Baltimore to Mary Murphy Gallagher and
John J. Gallagher on
1 September 1891.
This cabinet card sized albumen print is badly faded.
I have tried
to make adjustments electronically, but the results
are only fair. Compare
it to the much better preserved photo on the left.
The Gallagher family returned to Ireland in
1898 after being in Baltimore for a few years.
They returned once again
to Baltimore in 1912 and have lived here ever since.
Mary died in 1927.
The twins are also deceased.
