On the left is Karoline Pfilemenia Kaufman Hess who was
born in Germany in 1854. She arrived in the USA in 1871.
She is shown holding her grandson Scott Hess Snyder who died shortly after
this photo was made in the Bachrach Studio in 1901
On the right is Katherine Hess Snyder daughter of Karoline
and mother of the infant Scott.
