Josephine Smithson nee Johnson


 
 

Ferdinand Wagner created this Carte-de-Visite of Josephine Johnson Smithson. Wagner's studio was located at 63 West Baltimore Street from 1863 through 1886. Wagner, who was a native of Prussia was first described as a "daguerreotypist" and later a photographer. He is last found in the city directories about 1904. Notice that Smithson's cheeks have been colorized.
