Fleming
Adams cemetery, Bethel Township, Monroe County, Ohio. I did
not visit this cemetery. The information is from
“Monroe County, Ohio Records” by Catharine F. Fedorchak,
Volume V. Catharine did a reading of
this cemetery in October 1966 with Mrs. Urban Heft. She describes it as follows: An
abandoned cemetery not too far off Route 260, just before we came to a garage
which I believe Mrs. Heft said was a McConnel’s
Garage. Catharine said she drove down
into the creek bed, and up the other bank, and then we could drive into the
field for quite a ways. We drove across
the field to a cow pasture and went through that gate on foot, and sure enough,
in a small wooded area of the cow pasture, we found the cemetery. The
cows had played havoc with this cemetery and there was not a stone standing. Even the stone pillars for the fence and the
fence rails were down. Ruby & I took
sticks and scrapped away the dirt from the inscriptions and finally managed to
make out the following stones. I would
guess that at one time there had been quite a few more stones in this
cemetery. Here again I don’t know what
to call the cemetery.
