Dear family and friends:
In this fast paced world that we live in, we still place family and tradition as
top priorities. This year was the 66th year that Italian Americans from mid
Michigan have gathered to celebrate the Festival of Santo Ippolito; a tradition
that traces back to around the nineteenth century in the small village of St.
Ippolito near Cosenza, in Calabria, Italy. I would like to compile a special
book of favorite recipes of the many families that have celebrated together at
the Festival of St. Ippolito over the years. I would also like to include some
of your family’s history and favorite photos, along with the history of the
Festival of St. Ippolito. What a wonderful keepsake to hand down to generations
to come!
Please get with your families and reminisce about what brought them to the
Lansing area from Italy; and jot down some of their history as they started a
new life in America. Also, please go through your photo albums and find a
favorite photo or two that you would like included. (On the back of the photos
please print the names of the people in the photo and any comment that would
coordinate with the photos.) I will mail back any original photos if you send a
self addressed stamped envelope.
If you would like to contribute to this special book, please mail (or e-mail)
your special recipes; and, if you would like, photos and family history to:
Jean Spagnuolo, 4857 Wyatt Road, Traverse City, MI 49684 - or -

My goal is to have this very special book available to purchase at Bunker Hill
next year. Proceeds will go to support the annual Festival of Santo Ippolito.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to phone me at 231-995-0282,
or e-mail me at the above e-mail address.
To make this project come together, I need your help. Thank you in advance for
participating; and may God bless you!
Sincerely,
