LANGPORT.

On Wednesday an inquest was held at Picts Hill, before Mr. MUNCKTON, on the body of Arthur John FOURACRE, aged three years, son of Mr. Richard FOURACRE, who died from being scalded on the previous Saturday. From the evidence of the mother it appeared that the child was sitting in a chair near the fire; she was also in the room, but had her back to the child, and heard it cry out. On looking round she saw it on the floor, and boiling water on its chest. She had placed a tea-pot with some tea on a trivet before the fire and supposed the child must have knocked it over. She at once applied the usual remedies, but did not think the injuries were so serious until the next day, when she went for Dr. BROOKE, who sent his assistant, but the child died shortly afterwards. A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
