DEATH OF MR. GEORGE B. COGGAN. - The checquered career of Mr. George Bartlett COGGAN, herbalist and dentist, of Commercial Road, Shepton Mallet, was closed by death on Thursday last week. De mortuis nil nisi bonum. Deceased was a native of Curry Mallet, Somerset, and in early life went to America, and took up a diploma at Philadelphia. Returning to England he set up in business as herbalist and dentist, and photographer, it being claimed for him that he was one of the first to introduce the latter art into England. About 30 years ago he settled down in a small way of business at Shepton Mallet, and by persevering industry succeeded in obtaining a comfortable position. He has been in failing health for some months, but death came suddenly at the last, the cause being apoplexy. He was 71 years of age. The body was interred in the cemetery on Tuesday, the Rev. A. STRADLING, Unitarian minister, performing the ceremony.
