A STOCKLINCH BRIDEGROOM
MARRIAGE OF MR. E. PALTERMAN AND MISS D. LAWRENCE.
The wedding took place at the Parish Church, on Saturday, of Miss Doris Phyllis LAWRENCE, only daughter of the late Mr. Arthur LAWRENCE and Mrs. P. MALE, of Silver-street, an Mr. Edwin Charles William PALTERMAN, only son of Mr. and Mrs. PALTERMAN, of Stocklinch. The bride has been a member of the Parish Church choir for other eight years. The service, which was choral, was conducted by the Vicar (Rev. J. B. GLASS), the hymns sung being “Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven” and “The King of Love.” Miss BOND was at the organ.
The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Alfred LAWRENCE, wore a dress of white satin, with veil and coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and white heather. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Chloe PAYNTER and little Miss June CORNELIUS. The elder bridesmaid wore a dress of green marocain with floral headdress, whilst the little girl wore a frock of pink crepe-de-chine with floral head-dress. They carried bouquets of bronze chrysanthemums. Mr. T. MALE (cousin of the bride) was “best man.”
A reception was held at the bride's home and later Mr. and Mrs. PALTERMAN left for the honeymoon, which is to be spent touring, by car. The couple received over 50 presents, including a barometer from the bridegroom's fellow workers at Marshalsea's Motor Works, Taunton, and a gift from the bride's employer, Mrs. ROWSWELL, of Stanley House, Shepton Beauchamp.
