ILMINSTER

PRISONERS OF WAR FUND

The following amounts have been received by Mrs. MARTIN: Miss HINTON, £3; Richard PRING, Ile Abbotts, 10s collected in “ship” halfpennies; No. 1 Platoon “C” Company 11th Battalion Somerset (Ilminster) Home Guard, £7 7s. Per Lieut. E. A. ROSE.

OLD INHABITANT'S DEATH

The death occurred on Thursday of Caroline BRIDGE, aged 86, at 5, Bay Hill, where she has resided for 14 years with her sister, Mrs. J. GUMMER. She was born at Puckington, but had spent most of her life in Norfolk. The funeral took place at the Cemetery on Monday, the Vicar (Rev. G. G. HICKMAN) officiating. Mourners were:- Messrs. F. BRIDGE (Barrington), S. ROWSELL, (Seavington) and C. GUMMER (Ilminster), nephews.

SHEPTON BEAUCHAMP

THE RESULT of the flag-day collection was as follows:- Miss MUNCKTON, £2 16s 3d; Mrs. W. ENGLAND, £1 17s 10d; Mrs. E. ENGLAND, 10s; Mrs. H. CORNELIUS 6s 11d; Mrs. LEAN, £1 13s 5d; New Inn, £1 5s 8d; Duke of York Inn, 10s 11d; Shepton School, 4s 4d; total, £9 5s 4d.


SEAVINGTON

DEATH OF MRS. C. SCOTT

A well known and respected resident, Mrs. Christiana SCOTT, wife of Mr. Frederick SCOTT, of Middle Field Farm passed away on Tuesday last week, aged 74 years. Mrs. SCOTT took a great interest in all village activities and had been a member of the Mothers' Union for many years. The funeral took place at St. Mary's Churchyard on Thursday. Rev. R. E. LUPTON (rector) officiating. Miss KIDDLE was organist.
Family mourners were Mr. F. SCOTT (husband), Mrs. SHIRE and Mrs. JEREMY (daughters), Mr. A. SCOTT and Mr. F. SCOTT (sons), Mr. W. SHIRE and Mr. W. JEREMY (sons-in-law) Mr. and Mrs. HARRIES (brother and sister-in-law) Mrs. COLLINS and Miss Mary SCOTT (granddaughters), Mrs. WATSON (friend). There were also many friends at the graveside, including members of the Mothers' Union.
