Late Mr. E. J. Coles
The death occurred at his home, 7, Jubilee-street, Taunton, on Sunday, of Mr. Edwin John COLES, aged 57, who had been employed on the railway since 1929. He had been in poor health for a year, but his death came unexpectedly. He leaves a wife and one son, Terry. Mr. COLES was born at Bradford-on-Tone, the son of the late Mr. Albert COLES and of Mrs. COLES, who now lives at Bishop's Hull. Mr. COLES was well liked for his bright and obliging nature.
The funeral took place on Wednesday morning, the first part of the service being held in St. Andrew's Church, conducted by the Rev. MORETON, who also officiated at the graveside at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Principal mourners were:- Mrs G. L. COLES (wife), Mr. and Mrs. T. J. COLES (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. H. COLES (brother), Mr. and Mrs. W. HAWKINS (brother-in-law and sister), Mrs. A. CRUSE (sister), Mr. E. SEAGER, Mr. J. LENTHALL and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. DUDDRIDGE (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law), Mrs. M. CUFF (cousin). Mr. and Mrs. R. LESSEY (friends). Many representatives of the railway and other friends attended.
There was a large number of floral tributes.
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mr. Leonard E. SMITH, of Haydon-road, Taunton.
