FUNERAL OF THE LATE MR F LANE. - The remains of the late Mr Francis LANE, relieving officer for the Pitminster district, whose death resulted from a fall from his horse, as reported last week, were interred on Thursday in the Corfe cemetery. The service was conducted by the Rev T CRUMP (vicar). Those present at the graveside included Mr C LANE and Mr J LANE (brothers), Mr T LUCAS and Mr J LUCAS (brothers-in-law), Mr LANE, Wellington (uncle), Mr HOOK (brother-in-law), Mr POOLE (solicitor), Rev. BROOKS (Wellington), and Messrs DURSTON, J BUCKLAND, F DENNING, C SLOMAN, H J Pearce, &c. Floral tributes were sent by “The poor of the district,” the widow, Mr and Mrs C CHURCHILL, Mr C LANE, Mr J LANE, Mrs CHAPPELL, Mr and Mrs HOOK, Miss LUCAS, Mr and Mrs J LUCAS and family, Mr J E LUCAS, Mr C LANCE, Colonel HELYAR, Mr and Mrs DAY, Mr and Mrs DURSTON, Dr. CODNOR, the Vicarage, and Messrs H and R ROSWELL. The coffin was of polished oak, with brass fittings. The whole of the arrangements were entrusted to the care of Mr R S BICKNELL, who gave great satisfaction.
