WEDNESDAY. - Before the Mayor (Councillor W. A. WRENN), Alderman W. LOCK, Mr. T. PENNY, and Mr. G. SAUNDERS.

SCHOOL CASE. -Charles PLENTY, of Paradise-square, did not appear to an adjourned summons of disobedience to an order made upon him to send his child to school. - Superintendent DURHAM informed the Bench that the defendant by his repeated absence was treating the magistrates with contempt, and he understood that the father of the boy wanted to have him sent to an industrial school, and saddle the ratepayers with the expense. He hoped that the Bench would inflict a fine. - Defendant was fined 10s and costs, or in default a distress warrant to be issued.
