DEACON FOR 40 YEARS
DEATH OF MR. SAMUEL TAPP
FUNERAL TRIBUTES.
Mr. Samuel TAPP, who died in the Taunton and Somerset Hospital on Friday, January 14th, was a member and honorary deacon at the Baptist Church, Ile Abbots, for more than 40 years. He was aged 62.
The funeral took place at Ile Abbots on Wednesday, a service in the Baptist Church being followed by burial in the graveyard.
The Rev. Sidney WARD, who officiated, paid a tribute to Mr. TAPP's Christian life and work. Mrs. J. F. SLADE was the organist, and played the “Dead March” after the service. The hymns were “Jesu, lover of my soul,” and “Rock of Ages.”
The mourners were Mr. G. TAPP (brother), Miss TAPP, Mrs. HIGGINS, Mrs. LEVI, and Miss Jessie TAPP (sisters), and Mr. R. TAPP (nephew).
Many friends were present, including Mr. J. HUMPHREY, Miss M. TRUMP, Mr. J. CRABB, Mr. G. DARE, Mr. W. BICKNELL, Mr. C. DARE, Mr. and Mrs. W. CLARKE, Mr. C. CLARKE, Mr. G. GRABHAM, Mrs. SLADE, Mr. A. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. Leonard E. SMITH, Haydon-road, Taunton.
