They had baptised there - Timothy 16 Jan 1613, Robert 23 Feb 1616, Elizabeth 27 Dec 1618. Presumably the children died young as there is no further record of them. Benjamin Tompson was apprenticed or adopted by Thomas Blanchard of Braintree & Charlestown, and was remembered in his will. He graduated at Harvard in 1662, was headmaster of Boston Latin School 1667-71, master of Charlestown Grammar School 1671-5, and Schoolmaster at Braintree 1679-1699, at Roxbury 1699-1704, at Braintree again 1704-1710, town clerk at Braintree 1687-90 and 1695-1700.1
He married Susanna Kirkland, daughter of Philip Kirkland and Alice (?), ~ 1668 at Braintree, Norfolk, MA.1
In 1679 the town of Braintree voted to give Mr. Benjamin Tompson an acre and a half of land on the common near the meeting house. Here he built a house soon after which stood there until 1913. It was located on the east side of present Hancock St, Quincy, south of Cottage Ave. and stood facing south at an angle to the road, and faced the original meetinghouse on a small common there. Many town votes are recorded concerning his salary and services as schoolmaster and town clerk. He also petitioned for land in present Randolph in 1688 under the Andros government of Mass. (Reg.15:116), (Mass. Arch. 128:247 & 129:357).1 He married Prudence Payson b 1698 at Braintree, Norfolk, MA.1 He died on 13 Apr 1714 at Roxbury, Suffolk, MA, at age 71.1 Braintree records say "Mr. Benjamin Tompson, Practitioner of Physick for above thirty years during which time he kept a Gram. School in Boston, Charlestowne and Brantry, having left behind him a weary world, eight children, 28 grand children, and deceased Apr. 13, 1714 and lieth buried in Roxbury, ae.72, being youngest son of Rev.d William Tompson by his beloved Abigail who died while Mr. Tompson was in Virginia with Rev.d Mr. Knowles."1 Cotton Mather lauds him as a poet, physician, and mathematician. He was also a minister.
