In the Quinte area, Quakers settled in Adolphustown and the surrounding area starting in the 1790's. The Adolphustown Meeting later gave way to the larger West Lake Monthly Meeting at Bloomfield. Quakers left many wonderful records. See this short history of the West Lake Monthly Meeting. The Canadian Friends (Quakers) Historical Association (CFHA) is very active and the best place to start research on Canadian Quaker history. Their web site contains a large number of Newsletters, Journals, transcriptions and other resources. The newsletter and Journal have been replaced by an active blog on the CFHA website. |
