1900 Birth Record, Martin Schneider, Son of Peter & Clarahere is a full size image, 2000 x 1598 pixels, 2.5MB The birth record, No. 3012, of Martin Schneider on September 8, 1900, son of Peter and Clara Schneider, is puzzling. Martin is not mentioned in the US Census of 1910. Nor is he mentioned in the genealogical research of Richard L. Schneider, from whom the vast bulk of this web site is based; and he did exhaustive research. Martin must have died before 1910 and would not have been included in the census of 1900 even though the page listing Peter's family was documented 3 days after Martin's birth, September 11. But the census instructions state "Omit children born after June 1, 1900." Note that in 1900 and 1910 they have moved residences; from, 450 Campbell Ave. to 810 Send Ave. Nor did Martin appear in any of Richard's research available to me. I believe he had a few file drawers filled with his research into the Schneider clan in New Buffalo, IL. So the death of Martin seems the only reasonable explanation. But a death record of him hasn't been found - maybe not yet digitized. But it seems quite a coincidence that Martin would be born 3 years after to the day of the last child, Louis James Schneider, born 8 Sep 1897. Strange! |
