Duty at Camp A.P. Hill, Virginia was so remote from strict Army life and regimentation, that we were allowed considerable leniency, especially in the area of haircuts. We were permitted to grow our hair and sideburns quite a bit beyond the regulations. When I returned to Ft. Lee to pick up my paycheck, as we were required to do, my CO was beside himself with rage, giving me this article 15 and ordering me to get my haircut before I was allowed to pick up my paycheck.
