Jesse was a Private in First Battalion Co D - Ar Union Infantry
July 1, 1862 - his death Dec 2, 1862 of Typhoid Fever.
Jesse's sons John, Jesse, Francis, and Thomas also served in this unit-----

Note: It is assumed this is the correct Jesse Lasiter. It is the only one I can find in NC for 1830 where Wm. is recorded as being born. William is not showing up on this census. He was born in 1830 so his birthday may have fallen after the census date. Also, there are two girls listed that are unknown at this point. Jesse would have been aprox 26 adn Mary only 18 in 1830. Possibly they were sisters of Mary or Jesse? Possibly a look at Jesse's Civil War file might shed light on this.
