The following was taken from emails from Janice Rhodes, great grandaughter of Elmira. Feb 2003
James A. Sawyer married Elmira A. Titsworth on October 13, 1872 in Trenton, Grundy Co., Missouri. I found this handwritten information in the Marriage Index Book I, pg. 196, Grundy Co., Missouri. I had no way of copying that page at the time.
According to notes left by my grandmother Rosa Marie (Pilkington) Sawyer, Elmira was born February 21, 1854 in Indiana and died December 26, 1898 near Parkerton, Missouri. Juanita (Schneider) has her birth in 1856 in Cass Co, Indiana. My grandmother also said that James and Elmira were married by Judge Giles R. Songer. I found his gravestone in Drummond cemetery along with some of my Sawyer ancestors.
James A. Sawyer was born February 23, 1848 in Darke County, Ohio and died January 28, 1937 in Yuma County, Colorado. He is buried in the Grandview Cemetery at Wray, Colorado.
The picture with James and his 3 grandchildren, was taken after September 18, 1919 as that is the birthdate of the twins (George and Georgia) Eva was born March 23, 1917.
